that Government proposes to effect the
change olf he weekly half-holiday

Saturday with effect from 1st January,
1968.
Th proposed change will affect
Government Officers and employees
only.
This release replaces a release issued
yesterday. Thbe opening and closing
hours and lunch time period have not
been changed. The lunch hour period
remains 12.00 noon to 1.00 p.m.

FULBRIGHT TRAVEL GRANTS.
U.K. DEPiENDENT TERRITORIES 1968/69.
The United States-United Kingdom
Educational Commission announces that,
under the provision of the Fulbright
Programme, travel grants are available
to citizens of the United Kingdom de-
pendent territories to go to the United
States of America for Academic or
Educational purposes'.
There are two main categories of
award:
(a) Students. Preference is given to
graduate candidates or those ex-
pecting to obtain a degree by the
time of departure for the U.S.A.,
lbut grants for under-graduates
i'may be considered in special cir-
cumstances. There are two types
of Student Awards:

(1) Travel only-where the
candidate provides evidence of
acceptance at an educational in-
stitution in the U.S.A. together
with guarantee of adequate dollar
support for his/her stay.
(2) Joint Awards-Applicants
must be recommended to the In-
stitution of International Educa-
tion in New York for placement
and an award at an Institution of
higher learning in the United
States of America.
(b) Senior Scholars: Grants in this
category are confined to those
who have received invitation to
lecture or carry out Advanced
Research at an Advanced Insti-
tute of higher learning.

Kingstown and within a radius of two
miles therefrom, and all Small Towns
and Villages, is drawn to Section 4 Sub-
Section 9 of the Shops (Hours of Open-
ing and Employment Order) STATUTORY
RULES AND ORDERS No. 8 of 1963 which
reads as follows:-
(9) During the period commencing
on 2nd day of December and ending
on the 24th day of December, 1967,
the hours which shops may be opened
for transaction of business shall be:-
(a) from six o'clock in the morning
to ten o'clock in the evening on
Saturday and on the working
d a y immediately preceding
Christmas Day.

WAGES REGULATIONS PROPOSALS.
PROPOSALS ONLY-To be posted until 3rd January, 1968.
Further notice will be given if a Wages Regulations Order is made giving effect
to the proposals set out hereunder.
WAGES COUNCIL ORDER, No. 1 of 1967.
THE AGRICULTURAL WORKERS WAGES COUNCIL.
The Agricultural Wages Council hereby gives notice of its intention to
submit to the Administrator proposals for fixing the Statutory minimum
remuneration and holidays, with pay specified in the Schedule below.
The Wages Council will consider any written representation with respect
to these proposals sent to it within 14 days from 19th day of December, 1967.
Any such representation should be signed by the person making the same (giving
his or her address) and sent to the Secretary of the Wages Council. Copies
of the proposals can also be obtained from the Secretary of the Wages Council.
It is desirable that persons making objections should state the precise
grounds of their objection.

SCHEDULE
MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR TIME WORK
1. The Minimum remuneration to be paid to the workers to whom this
Order applies, employed on time-work, shall be as follows:-
Men . $1.90 per day for a day of 8 hours
Women .. $1.55 per day for a day of 8 hours
MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR OVERTIME
2. Whenever a worker to whom this Order applies, employed on time-work
works with the consent of his employer for more than eight hours on any
ordinary day he shall be paid (except as is hereinafter provided) for every
hour or part thereof time and a half, and for all work done on Sundays and
Public Holidays, double time: Provided that this does not apply to stockmen,
grooms and workers employed on shift system but whose total earnings must
not be less than the daily minimum wage when such earnings are divided by
the number of days worked in the period whether paid on a weekly, fortnightly
or monthly basis.
Watchmen employed under this Order shall not receive less than the
daily minimum wage when such earnings are divided by the number of hours
actually worked in the period whether paid on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly
basis.
MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR PIECE WORK AND TASK WORK
The minimum remuneration to be paid to workers, to whom this Order
applies, when employed on piece-work, or task-work shall be as follows:-
Digging arrowroot: 41 cents per basket measuring 28" in diameter and
filled to a height of 14".
Digging peanuts: 28 cents per kerosene tin filled to the height of the
tin.
31 cents per lb. (No deduction for moisture).

Provided that where a worker is employed on any piece-work or task-work
the employer shall be deemed to pay wages at less than the minimum wage
unless he shows that the rate for the period of 8 hours was not less than the
minimum wage for a day.
HOLIDAYS WITH PAY
3. Every worker to whom this Order applies shall be entitled to holidays.
with pay as follows:-
(1) 7 days holidays with pay for 201 days and over worked
(2) 6 days holidays with pay for 176-200 days worked
(3) 5 days holidays with pay for 151-175 days worked
(4) 4 days holidays with pay for 126-150 days worked
(5) 3 days holidays with pay for 100-125 days worked.

By virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 21 of
the West Indies Associated States Supreme Court Order 1967 and all other
powers thereto enabling him the Chief Justice with the concurrence of the
Premiers of all the States hereby prescribes as follows:-
1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Judicial and Legal
Services Commission (Remuneration) Order 1967.
2. Interpretation. In this Order-
"Commission" means the Judicial and Legal Services Commission
established by section 18 of the Courts Order;

tablished by section 12 of the Courts Order and includes any

1. Short title. These Regulations may be cited as the Post Office
(Amendment No. 3) Regulations, 1967 and shall be read as one with the Post
Office Regulations, 1938 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations)
and all amendments thereto. -
2. Regulation 321 of principal Regulations revoked and replaced. Regu-
lation 321 of the principal Regulations is hereby revoked and replaced with
the following:-
321. The hours during which the General Post Office in Kings-
town shall be opened to the public for the transaction of business
shall be from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on ordinary days of the week
except Saturday, when the Office shall be closed at 12 o'clock noon.
3. Regulation 325 of principal Regulations amended. Regulation 325
of the principal Regulations is hereby amended by substituting the word
"Saturdays" for the word "Wednesdays" wherever this word occurs in the
said Regulation.
4. Revocation. The Post Office (Amendment No. 2) Regulations, 194S
(S.R. & 0. 1948, No. 58) are..hereby revoked.
5. Commencemeht't T tions shall come into force on the 1st
day of January, 196k, '

PUBLIC OFFICES (EARLY CLOSING) ORDER.
(Gazetted 19th December, 1967).
1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Public Offices (Early
Closing) Order, 1967.
2. Half-holiday. All Public Offices and Government Departments shall
close at 12 o'clock noon on Saturday.
The provisions of this Order shall not apply to the Grammar School or
the Girls' High School.
3. Cancellation. The following Orders are hereby cancelled:-
(a.) The Public Officezs (Early Cloning) Order, 1955 (S.R. & 0. 1955,
No. 51);
(b) The Public Offices (Early Closing) (Amendment) Order, 1958
(S.R. & 0. 1958, No. 19).
4. Commencement. This Order shall come into force on the 1st day of
January, 1968.

Offices (Early Closing) Ordinance, (Cap. 137) this 12th day of December.
