BFITISH SUBJECTS FROM ABROAD
HAVING A RIGHT OR INTEREST
IN PROPERTY.
The Administrator regrets that the
circular issued by his Office on the sub-
ject of permanent residence for British
IT NOTICES.
Subjiecls having an interest in land or
property in St. Vincent did not make
it clear that it represented no new
policy or decision but merely set out the
legal position as it has stood for several
years.
Some confusion has also arisen over
the words "belong to St. Vincent".
Under Section 2(2) (b) of the Immi-
gration (Restriction) Ordinance, 1939,
a person is deemed to belong to St. Vin-
cent if he is a British subject and:
(i) Was born in St. Vincent or of
parents who at the time of his
birth were ordinarily resident
in St. Vincent.
(ii) Has been ordinarily resident
in St. Vincent continuously for
a period of seven years or more.
(iii) Obtained the status of a Brit-
ish Subject by reason of the
grant by the Governor of a
Certificate of Naturalization
under the British Nationality
and Status of Aliens Act, 1914.
(iv) Is the wife of a person to
whom any of the foregoing
categories applies not living
apart from such person under
a decree of a competent court
or a deed of separation.
(v) Is a child, stepchild or adopted
child having been adopted in
a manner recognized by law,
under the age of 16 years, of
a person to whom any of the
foregoing categories applies.

AWARD OF A SCHOLARSHIP TENABLE
AT THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN FARM
INSTITUTE TRINIDAD
Applications are invited for suitably
qualified candidates for the award of
a scholarship to the Eastern Caribbean
Farm Institute Forestry School in
Trinidad, opening in September, 1967.
Applicants should have at least Chem-
istry, Botany or Biology, Mathematics
and English at ordinary level and
preferably at advanced level of G.C.E.
The successful candidate will be re-
quired to enter into a bond with the
Government of St. Vincent to serve for
,a stated period on his return.
Further information may be obtained
from the Chief Technical Officer, Min-
istry for Trade, Production, Labour and
Tourism, Murray Road, Kingstown.

notified for general information that
paragraph 2 has been amended to per-
mit candidates who will be over the age
of 13 years 6 months on 30th Septem-
ber, 1967 to sit the examination for
entrance to the St. Vincent Grammar
School and Girls' High School. Candi-
dates should not be less than 10 years
6 months on 30th September, 1967, and
parents are asked to submit Birth Certi-
ficates before Friday 23rd June, 1967.

PAYMENT OF WATER RATES
It is notified for general information
rhat rates due in respect of water ser-
vices, for the year 1967, are payable on
or before 30th June, 1967, and that sub-
scribers who do not pay by this date
will be liable to disconnection.
Subscribers are also reminded that
disconnection of their services does not
absolve them from the payment of ar-
rears. In this connection, attention is
invited to section 27 (1) (2) and (3) of
the Water Distribution Ordinance No.
17 of 1955.

All persons holding United Kingdom
coins are requested to exchange them for
British Caribbean Currency Board coins
or East Caribbean Currency Authority
notes at ma branch of the' following
banks: Bank of Nova Scotia, Barclays
Bank D.C.O., Canadian Imperial Bank
of Commerce and Royal Bank of Can-
ada.
It is proposed to demonetise United
Kingdom coins in the near future in
all the territories served by the East
Caribbean Currency Authority (viz.,
Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Mont-
serrat, St. Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla,
St. Lucia and St. Vincent) and such
(coins will then no longer be legal tender
in these territories.
Banks have been informed of the in-
tention to demonetise United Kingdom
coins. Free exchange of such coins will
not be undertaken after demonetisatioti.

bearing a Portrait of Brittania and pre-
dominately blue in colour, issued during
the years 1957 to 1963 will not be Legal
Tender after 26th June, 1967.
They will still be exchangeable after
that date at the Head Office of the Bank

take to exchange Notes through the
medium of the Post.
The Public are advised to make
arrangements for any of these Notes in
their possession to be paid into a Bank

THE OWNERS OF PUBLIC
SERVICE VEHICLES, GOODS
VEHICLES AND TRAILERS
(H., H.T., & T. PLATES.)
The attention of persons who own
the types of vehicles mentioned above is
drawn to the provisions contained in
Regulaton 20 and 21 and all amend-
ments thereto of the Motor Vehicle &
Road Traffie Regulations 1959, whereby
no licence may be issued or renewed for
such vehicle, unless the Inspector cer-
tifies that the vehicle complies with all
the provisions of the Ordinance and of
these regulations.
The Inspector of Motor Vehicles will
be available at Police Headquarters
daily from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. except
on Sunday and Public Holidays, to
ensure that all the abovementioned
classes of vehicles are inspected and
are roadworthy before July, 31st 1967.
Regulation 20 (6) requires that these
vehicles are examined twice annually,
that is before 30th day of June and 31st
day of December, in each year.

Vehicles which have not been pre-
sented for inspection or if presented
have not passed the examination by
31st July, 1967, will be taken off the
road.
