POST OF BAILIFF, MAGISTRATE'S OFFICE.

of Bailiff, Magistrate's Office, St. Vin-
cent. The post is pensionable, with
salary ih the scale $1,392/1,536 X $84-
$1,872 X $96-$2,640. Travelling allow-
ance is payable in accordance with local
regulations.

The Right Honourable the Secretary
of State for Commonwealth Affairs has
notified that Her Majesty's assent has
been withheld from the Bill for the
Supreme Court (Amendment No. 2)
Ordinance, 1966 which passed the Legis-
lative Council on 15th December, 1966,
on the ground that it is inconsistent
with section 48 of the St. Vincent (Con-
stitution) Order-in-Council, 1959.

Standing Conference on Teacher
Education in the Eastern
Caribbean
3rd to 5th April, 1967
St. Vincent.
The Standing Conference on Teacher
Education in the Eastern Caribbean
will be held at the Grand View Hotel,
St. Vincent, from 3rd to 5th April,
1967.
Participants will include the Director
of the Institute of Education, U.W.I.,
Mr. R. N. Murray, members of the
staff of the Institute, the Chief Educa-
tion Officers in each territory, Princi-
i pals and Vice Principals of the Train-
ing Colleges which are in association
with the Institute of Education of the
U.W.I.
The purpose of this Annual Con-
ference is to review progress in Teacher
Education, to consider problems, to dis-
cuss any new trends or developments
and to plan for the succeeding period.
Opportunity will also be taken for con-
sidering the administrative arrange-
ments for the setting and moderation
of examination question papers.
All interested persons are invited to
the Official Opening of the Conference
at the Memorial Hall at 9 a.m. on Mon-
lay, 3rd April. The Education Officer,
Mr. T. V. KEANE, will welcome his pro-
fessional colleagues and Addresses will
be given by His Honour the Adminis-
trator, the Minister for Social Services
and Education and the Director of the
Institute, Mr. R. N. MURRAY.

TREASURY NOTICE
MISSING "SPECIMEN" NOTES
Certain of the "Specimen" Notes
which were on display when the East
Caribbean Currency Notes were issued
in September, 1965 to various terri-
tories, are missing and have entered
into circulation.
The notes are in the denominations
of $1, $5, $20, and $100; and all bear
the signature of Mr. D. W. Spiers, and
aie identical with issued notes of the
same denominations save that they all
bear the serial number Al 000 000, and
are over-printed diagonally with the
word "SPECIMEN" on both sides.
Members of the public are warned
to be on the alert especially when re-
ceiving $20 and $100 notes, and should
report any appearance of them to the
Currency Officer or Police.

NOTICE TO SHIPPING.
It is hereby notified for general infor-
mation that the navigation light at the
entrance to Clifton Harbour, Union
Island, Southern Grenadines, broke
away from its moorings and is now out
of order.
Mariners are requested to be extremely
cautious when travelling through the
passage between Carriacou and the
island of Mayreau and also on entering
or leaving Clifton Harbour.

The Public is hereby notified that the
Lands and Surveys Department moved
on the 14th March from the premises it
occupied on the ground floor of the
building housing the Ministry of Com-
munications & Works, into new premises
on the ground floor of the building
occupied by the Ministry of Trade,
Production, Labour and Tourism on
Murray's Road opposite the Grammar
School Playing Field.

POLICE NOTICES
PRESS RELEASE.
The Police Department will be carry-
ing out an experiment along Back
Street in an effort to discourage motor-
ists from speeding.
In this connection STOP SIGNS will
be erected at the following points
along Back Street:
Back Street and Melville Street
Back Street and Higginson Street
Back Street and North River Road
This experiment will be for a period
of one month in the first instance and
may be extended without further
notice.

STOP SIGNS.
It is promulgated for the informa-
tion of all concerned that with effect
from Monday 20th March, 1967, STOP
SIGNS will be erected at the follow-
ing points along Back Street:
Back Street and Melville Street
Back Street and Higginson Street
Back Street and North River Road
As there appears to be some mis-
understanding, drivers and riders of
vehicles are reminded that they are
required to stop the vehicle and shall
not move the vehicle or cause the same
to be moved to the road junction next
ahead until they. shall have satisfied
themselves that it is safe to do so.
The practice of only stopping if an-
other vehicle is approaching is a con-
travention of the law and anyone so
offending is liable to be prosecuted.
