VACANCY FOR THE POST OF PHYSICIAN
AND MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT
COLONIAL HOSPITAL AND MONTROSE
EXTENSION HOSPITAL, ST. VINCENT.
Applications are invited from regis-
tered medical practitioners for the post
of Physician and Hospital Superinten-
dent for duties including administra-
tion of the Colonial Hospital and Mont-
rose Extension Hospital (258 beds),
care of all medical in-patients and ad-
vice on the care of medical outpatients
referred by medical practitioners. Pos-
session of the M.R.C.P. or equivalent is
desirable but not essential.
2. Appointment: The post is pen-
sionable but appointment may be on
contract for a period of three years in
the first instance. In the case of a con-
tract appointment a gratuity of 121/2%
of salary is payable on the satisfactory
completion of the contract.
3. Emoluments: Salary $8,400 per
annum plus a non-pensionable allow-
ance of $960 per annum. Consultant
practice is permitted provided that it
does not interfere with the proper per-
formance of the officer's official duties.
4. Applications accompanied by 2

VACANT POST OF EDUCATION OFFICER,
DOMINICA.
Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for appointment to the
post of Education Officer, Dominica.
2. The salary is at the fixed rate of
$7,920.00 per annum.
3. The post is on the permanent and
pensionable establishment and the ap-
pointment is subject to medical fitness.
4. Applicant should be a graduate
of a recognized university; should have
taught in either primary or secondary
school for at least seven years; and
should possess a diploma or degree in
Education.

EASTERN CARIBBEAN COMMISSION,
LONDON.
Applications are invited for the post of
Commissioner, Eastern Caribbean Com-
mission, London.
2. The basic salary of the post is
$12,000 per annum. The appointment
will be on contract for a period of three
years in the first instance, and will be
subject to termination on six months'
notice on either side.
3. A gratuity at the rate of 121/2%
of basic salary will be payable on the
satisfactory completion of the contract.
4. The officer will be required to
administer Consular services in respect
of the territories forming the West
Indies (Associated States), to promote
the interests of the territories in the
United Kingdom in the fields of trade,
tourism and investment, to attend to the
welfare of migrants and students, and
generally, to project an appropriate
image of the islands served.
5. Living quarters are not provided
but the officer will be paid a House
Allowance at the rate of $2,640 per
annum.
6. Applications on the prescribed
forms, accompanied by two (2) recent

VACANCY FOR POST OF EXECUTIVE
SECRETARY.
Applications are invited for the post
of Executive Secretary to the West In-
dies (Associated States) Council of
Ministers.
2. The salary of the post will be in
the scale $8,400 x 240-$9,600. The
point of entry in this scale will depend
upon the officer's qualifications and ex-
perience.
3. The general conditions of service
of the Officer would be in accordance
with the Civil Service conditions ob-
taining in St. Lucia at present.
4. A House Allowance at the rate of
$600 per annum will be payable to the
officer, provided he is recruited from
outside St. Lucia.
5. The officer will be responsible for
the administration of the Secretariat in
St. Lucia, the administration of services
Jointly sponsored by the West Indies
(Associated States), and the perform-
ance of such other duties that may be
assigned to him from time to time by the
West Indies (Associated States) Coun-
cil of Ministers.

COMMONWEALTH
SCHOLARSHIPS AND
FELLOWSHIPS.
AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND.
The Governments of Australia and
New Zealand have invited applications
for the award of Commonwealth Schol-
arships and Fellowships tenable at
Universities in these territories to suit-
able men and women from the West
Indies under their respective Common-
wealth Scholarships and Fellowships
Plan 1968/69.
Applicants should not have reached
their 35th birthday by 1st March, 1967,
but i'i -peial ciroumstaoces this age
limit may be raised. Preference will
however be given to candidates between
22 and 28 years of age.
These scholarships and fellowships
are awarded for advanced study or re-
search and are open to students who
before they take up a scholarship hold a
Bachelor's or Master's Degree from a
recognized University or some equiva-
lent qualification. Under special cir-
cumstances applications may also be
considered for undergraduates if the
programme of study they wish to follow
is not available in their own country.
Awards will normally be made for a
period of two academic years except in
cases where a shorter period is required
to complete the programme for which
the award is granted.
Each scholarship covers expenses for
travel, living and study during its ten-
ure.
Successful candidates must give an
undertaking to return to St. Vincent at
the end of their scholarship period.
Applications must be made through
unit Governments in septuplicate, and
on prescribed forms available from the
Training Division of the Ministry of
Finance, Kingstown, St. Vincent, from
which further information on these
scholarships could be obtained. Appli-
cations must be forwarded to the Minis-
try of Finance not later than 30th
January, 1967. Applications that are
incomplete or are not supported by the
required documents will not be enter-
tained.

NOTICE.
CALLIAQUA BRIDGE.
It is notified for general information
that certain defects have been discov-
ered in the Calliaqua Bridge, which, if
not remedied quickly, might cause the
bridge to be classified as "dangerous for
usage" and to be closed to pedestrian
and vehicular traffic.
The Ministry for Communications
and Works is arranging for the defects
to be remedied shortly but, in the mean-
time, drivers of all types of vehicles,
should maintain a speed of not more
than five (5) miles per hour when tra-
versing the bridge.

INCOME TAX NOTICES.
TO GOVERNMENT OFFICERS
All Government Officers are hereby
reminded that the latest date for the
submission of Income Tax Returns for
SAINT VINCENT, TUESDAY, 17 JANUARY, 1967.-(No. 5.)
assessment in the year 1967 is the 31st
January, and that failure to give notice
of chargeability is an offence against
the Income Tax Ordinance, rendering
the person concerned liable on convic-
tion to a fine not exceeding SEVEN
HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS.
2. Every person whose income ac-
cruing in, derived from the Colony or
elsewhere and whether received in the
Colony or not for the preceding year,
exceeded the statutory limit of $600.00
is required to submit a return on the
prescribed form notwithstanding that
on account of approved deductions no
tax may eventually be chargeable, and
particular attention is directed to the
fact that the term "income" is deemed
to include not only money but also
allowances in kind.
3. Efforts are being made to send
forms to such persons through their
Head.; of Departments. It is to be
clearly understood, however, that the
lneonme Tax Department is under no
obligation to send a return form to
anyone and that a person is not exon-
erated from the statutory liability of
making a return even though a form
may not have been received from the
Department. Forms may be obtained,
on application, at the Revenue Offices
at GCorgetown, Barrouallie, Bequia and
Union Island, or in any other district
from the Police Station situate therein,
or from the Income Tax Office, Kings-
town, where any person requiring in-
formation in connection therewith is
invited to enquire.
4. Where Officers are in receipt of
income other than salaries, the form
should include particulars thereof and
should be accompanied by the neces-
sary supporting statements.

TREASURY NOTICE.
INLAND REVENUE DEPARTMENT.
Notice is hereby given that in accordance with Cap. 194, Section 49 of the
"Land and House Tax Ordinance", as amended by Ordinance No. 12/1954, the
undermentioned properties situated in the parishes of Charlotte, St. David
and St. George, were sold at Public Auction on 15th October and 19th Novem-
ber, 1966, for the payment of arrears of Land and House Tax. Although it
is provided that such Sale shall not become absolute until the expiration of
three (3) months from the date of sale thereof, it is hereby notified that it has
been considered necessary to extend this period by a further four (4) weeks,
so that the defaulter or any other person or persons having an interest in the
property sold shall pay into the Treasury the said purchase price plus Ten
Per Centum thereof, before the expiration of the extended period, after which
date the property sold will vest absolutely in the purchaser's name.

2. Declaration. The establishment, maintenance and operation in the
Colony, of plant for the manufacture of lime products (lime juice and '-me oil)
is hereby declared to be a pioneer industry for the purposes of the Aid to
Pioneer Industries Ordinance, 1952, and lime products (lime juice and lime oil)
so manufactured are hereby declared to be pioneer products for the said pur-
poses.
