GOVERNOR-GENERAL'S ARRIVAL
AND INITIAL TOUR.

As announced earlier, the Right Hon-
ourable Lord HAILEs, G.B.E., Governor-
General of the West Indies, accom-
panied by Lady HAILES, will arrive in
the West Indies in H.M.S. "Trou-
bridge" on 3rd January next to assume
duties of his office.
2. After a short stay in TTriadad
which will be mainly oecnpied with
Federal business, the Governor-General,


accompanied by Lady HAILS, will
make a preliminary tour of the terri-
tories of the West Indies, travelling in
H.M.S. "Troubridge". The programme
of the visit will be as follows:-
January 10th--departs Trinidad.
January 13th to 20th-Jamaica.
January 23rd to 26th-Antigna.
January 27th to 28th-St. Kitts
and Nevis.
January 29th-Montserrat.
January 30th to 31st-Dominica.
February 1st to 3rd-St. Lucia.
February 4th to 5th-St. Vincent.
February 6th to 9th-Grenada. -
February 10th to 13th-Barbados.
February 14th-returns to Trinidad.

Sealed Tenders are invited, not later
than 2.00 p.m. on Monday, 23rd Decem-
ber, 1957, for the purchase of one (1)
X-ray Machine and one (1) Sterilizer
at the Colonial Hospital.
Prospective purchasers can inspect
the articles between the hours of
9.00 a.m.-12 noon, and 1.00 p.m.-
4.00 p.m. daily, on application to the
Office of the Senior Medical Officer.
Tenders are to be addressed to the
Chairman, Tenders Board, Fiaancial
Secretary's Office, and distinctly
marked on envelope, "Tender for the
Purchase of X-ray Machine or Steri-
lizer. "

Goods Vehicles and Trailers. (H. H.T.
and T Plates).
Your attention is drawn to the pro-
visions of Regulations 18 and 19 and
amendments thereto of the Motor Vehi-
cles and Road Traffic Regulations 1940
whereby no license may be wmed or re-
newed for such vehicles unless an
Inspector of Motor Vehicles certifies
that the vehicle comply with the provi-
sions of the Ordinance and ..Regala-
tions. (That is to say, the vehiet .must
be absolutely roadworthy, h-avealkaheth&
necessary fittings including efficient.
brakes etc. etc.
The Inspector of Motor Vehicles is
available at Police Headquarters daily
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. except on Sundays
and Public Holidays to inspect vehicles.
Regulations 18 (5) requires that all
vehicles described above must be exam-
ined twice annually.

WARNING:-Vehicles that have not
been presented for inspection or if pre-
sented have not passed the examination
by the 31st January, 1958 will be taken
off the road.

stocks, which will commence at 10 a.m. on the morning of the 16th instant.

It has been brought to my notice that
certain Spirits have recently teen im-
ported for sale to the public in this


Colcny which do not conform with cer-
tain requirements of the Liquor Licence
Ordinance.
Holders of liquor licences are hereby
reminded that, under the relevant Ordi-
nance No. 11 of 1948, Sec. 51 (1), no
Spirits of less strength than twenty-five
per cent (25%) under proof according to
Sykes' hydrometer shall be sold or dis-
posed of by them in this Colony; and
all such Spirits found on the premises of
any holder of any such licence, shall be
forfeited.
