His Excellency SIR COLVILLE MONTGOMERY DEVERELL, K.C.M.G., C.V.O.,
O.B.E., Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Windward Islands, arrived in
the Colony at 6.00 p.m. on Monday 30th Sept-.iber, 1957, for a visit of one day.
His Excellency departs at 3.00 p.m. on 1st October, 1957.

Under the provisions of the Saint Vincent (Legislative Council) Order in
Council, 1951, His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the
following gentlemen to be Nominated Members of the Legislative Council of the
Colony of Saint Vincent:-

ABRAHAM CYRIL CYRUS, Esquire,
ALBAN CONWAY dosSANTOS, Esquire,
These gentlemen will hold their seats during Her Majesty's pleasure.

OPENING MEETING OF THE NEW LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
The first Meeting of the new Legislative Council of St. Vincent will be held
in the Council Chamber, Kingstown, on Thursday, the 3rd October, 1957,
commencing at 10 a.m. in the forenoon.
The "Order of the' Day" of this Meeting is published with this issue of the
Gazette.
A cordial invitation to attend the opening ceremony is extended to the
general public, subject to the arrangements for seating accommodation which
are indicated in the following notice:-

Seating Arrangements.
The general public is hereby notified that there will be available in the
Council Chamber proper approximately 200 chairs for the accommodation of
members of the public at the opening meeting of the new Legislative Council
on 3rd October, 1957.
The first four rows of 90 chairs will be reserved for Heads of Government
Departments, the Clergy, Members of the Kingstown Town Board and other
Municipal Bodies and other persons prominent in the life of the community.
The remaining chairs and such other sitting accommodation will be available to
persons other than those referred to above.
Special seating accommodation will be arranged for the wives of the
Councillors.
After all sitting accommodation and whatever standing space there may be
.Jhall have been occupied, the public are hereby notified that no other persons
,will be allowed entry into the Council Chamber.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section 30 (1) of the St. Vincent (Le slativrl cil)
Order in Council, 1951, that the sessions of the Legislative Coui- e held
at such times and places as the Governor shall from time to time appoint
by Proclamation:
AND WHEREAS I think it expedient that there shall be a session of the
Legislative Council:
Now, THEREFORE, I do by this my proclamation summon the said Legislative
Council to meet at the Court House in the Town of Kingstown in the Colony
of St. Vincent, on Thursday the 3rd day of October, 1957, at ten o'clock in
the forenoon, for the despatch of public business:
AND the members of the said Legislative Council, and all other Her Majesty's
Officers, Ministers and loving subjects in the said Colony, and all others whom
it may concern, are hereby required to take due notice hereof, and to give their
ready obedience accordingly.
GIVEN under my hand and the Public Seal of the Colony of Saint Vincent,
at Government Office in the said Colony, this 30th day of September,
1957, and in the Sixth year of the Reign of Her Majesty QUEEN
ELIZABETH THE SECOND.
