Press Officer:
Duties will involve the prepara-

newspapers throughout the region
and to edit a monthly magazine
on Federal Affairs for circulation
in the West Indies. Professional
experience as a reporter or editor
on a West Indian paper and a de-
tailed knowledge of current af-
fairs in the West Indies essential.
Salary scale $4,C80 x $240-$5,521
per annum.
Liaison Officer:
Will be required to keep in close
association with Government De-
partments and all Information
Agencies in the area, for the pur-
pose of collecting materials for
broadcasting and publishing. A!so
required to meet visiting jour-
nalists, to arrange interviews for
them and to facilitate their search
for stories, pictures, etc. Profes-
sional experience in journalism or
broadcasting essential.
Salary scale $3,600 x $240-$4.800
per annum.
General Conditions of Service.
Consideration will be given to appoint-
ment above the minimum of the salary
scale to candidates with special qualifi-
cations.
All officers will be required to serve in
Barbados in the first instance and subse-
quently in Trinidad when Federal Head-
quarters move to that Colony. The Liai-
son Officer may be required to serve out-
side Barbados and Trinidad.
Quarters are not provided in Barbados
but officers recruited from outside that
colony who are not normally resident in
Barbados will be eligible for a separation
allowance during the interim period
until Federal Headquarters move to
Trinidad. The exact amount of this
allowance has yet to be determined.
Quarters will be provided in Trinidad at
a rental of 10 per cent of salary. If
heavy, basic, furniture is required, this
will be supplied on payment of a rental
of 5 per cent per annum of the value of
the furniture. No separation allowance
will be payable when the Federal Head-
quarters are established in Trinidad.
Free passages by the cheapest and
most direct route would be provided on
appointment for the officer, his wife and
dependent children, up to a maximum
of five persons in all.
Vacation leave will be granted at the
most favourable rate applied to equiva-
lent grade of officer by any federating
Unit Government. The exact amount
has yet to be determined.
Leave passages will be provided, not
exceeding? the cost of three adult return
passages to the United Kingdom, after
a minimum tour of not less than 4 years.
Free medical attention not provided,
but cost of operative treatment, X-ray
examination and bacteriological ser-
vices for the officer himself would be
met.
Subsistence allowance payable at the
approved rate when travelling on duty.

His Honour the Administrator having issued his writs for the Election of
members of the Legislative Council for the Electoral Districts of the Colony the
Returning Officers of the said Districts will on the 27th day of August, 1957 now

Every Nomination Paper must be signed by any six or more electors qualified

ASSOCIATION.
It is hereby notified to all members
that a Scholarship to one of the Secon-
dary Schools will be offered as from the
beginning of the 1958 school year.
The award will be made to the child
of a financial member in accordance
with the rules as approved by the Gov-
erning Body.
The examination for the award will
be held at the same sitting as that ar-
ranged by the Education Department
for award of Government Scholarships.
This is scheduled to take place on Fri-
day, 4th October, 1957, at the Richmond
Hill Government School, at 9.00 a.m.

hi-monthly, namely by 12 o'clock noon on
the 2nd and on the 17th day of each
month, the return to contain stocks of
the articles in Part B of the First Sche-
dule held by them on the 1st day and
on the 15th day of each month respec-
tively..
This measure is being taken as an
emergency during the Hurricane Season.
