It is hereby notified for general information that in the event of a hurricane
threatening or approaching the Island, the following warnings will be given:-

LAND ARRANGEMENTS.
I.-ANNUAL.
Non-Commissioned Officers in charge
of Police Stations throughout the
parishes outside of Kingstown are Hur-
ricane Relief Officers. They are to br
in constant touch with the District
Committees and must render them
useful service in hurricane condi-
tions. They are to keep a list of loal
Justices of the Peace and of person
who may suitably be enrolled as Special
Constables should the necessity arise.

Secretary and the Chief of Police.
On receipt of such a warning the
Government Secretary also informs all
other Heads of Departments, and the
Chief of Police immediately relays such
warning to Non-Commissioned Officers
In charge of Police Stations.
From the time a hurricane warning
Is received, the Hurricane Relief Com-
mittees are to take charge generally of
the Districts. They will at once get in
touch with the Police in their Districts
and the officers mentioned in the follow-
ing paragraphs; they are to be ready to
organise relief work with the Medical
Department, to disseminate all informa-
tion; to make arrangements for food sup-
plies; to make arrangements for centres
for first aid for the injured, for housing
and feeding the poor and for transport.
III.-AerON TO BE TAzN ArFa WamNiNa
ISSUED.
The Chiet of Police will warn all Non-
Commissioned Officers in charge of Police
Stations, and they in turn warn inhabi-
tan.ts, ships in the harbour &c.
All Departments will batten down and
secure loose stores.
The Superintendent of Public Works
will get in touch with Road Overseers
and they and the drivers and gangs will
be on the alert.
.The Assistant Superintendent of Tele-
phones will get in touch with all lines-
men, and arrange with all Exchanges
for the dissemination of warnings.
IV.---Arf THE HURRICANE.
After the hurricane is over, the Re-
lief Committees will decide on what
buildings can be used as first aid sta-
tions and for housing and feeding des-
titute.
Relief Committees will arrange in con-
junction with District Medical Office=
for transport of injured to first aid sta-
tions.
Relief, Committees will arrange to
shelter the homeless and for their feed-
ing.
Relief Committees will Issue food (It
they have taken charge of local supplies),
to first aid stations on demand by Dit-
trict Medical Officers.
V.-ACTION IN KINxSTOWN.
In Kingstown all action, as indicated
above, will be carried on by the
Kingstown District Committee save that
the Financial Secretary, the Superinten-
dent of Agriculture and the Labour Com-
missioner will be in charge of food sup-
plies, and the Chief of Police will be In
charge of the collection and protection
of the homeless.
VI.-ST. VINCENT GRENADINES.
The District Officer, St. Vincent Gren-
adines and/or the individual Relief
Committees will take any necessa
action in the islands in hurricane con-
ditions.
VII.-RTURNS.
The Financial Secretary, the Senior
Medical Officer, the Chief of Pollce
and the Superintendent of Pubnle
Works will render a return annually to
the Administrator on the 1st July to the
effect that their preparations with regard
to hurricane arrangements are up to date
and in order.

WEST INDIES FEDERATION.
DRAFT ORDER IN COUNCIL, 1957.
The Draft of the West Indies (Federa-
tion) Order in Council, 1957, has been
laid before Parliament for approval by
resolution of each House of Parliament.
The Order in Council includes the Con-
stitution of the West Indies which will
come into operation on the establish-
ment of Federation. It is anticipated
that both the House of Lords and the
House of Commons will consider this
Draft and the resolution approving it
within the next week. If approval is
granted by both Houses, it is expected
that the Draft Order in Council will be
submitted to Her Majesty in Privy Coun-
cil about the end of this month. As
soon as Her Majesty makes the necessary
Order in Council, the Constitution of the
West Indies will become law, but its pro-
visions will not come into operation
before the arrival of the Governor-
General when the Federation will
actually come into existence.

United Kingdom and the United States

Article 20 of the Treaty of Peace with

of the former German assets in Japan
which have been vested in the Commis-

IN PUERTO RICO 1957-1958.
Applications are invited for the follow-
ing Courses offered by the International
Co-operation Administration in associa-
tion with the Government of the Com-
monwealth of Puerto Rico, to be held in
Puerto Rico commencing in October,
1957.
Applications are to be sent to the Edu-
cation Officer, Department of Education,
and must reach him on or before Wed-
nesday, 31st July, 1957.
Applicants must state age, education,
experience, if any in the trade in which
training is required, and present occu-
pation. Applicants should not be below
the age of 17 years.

(3) Electricity.
(4) Printing and Linotype.

NORTH LEEWARD DISTRICT.
On Friday the 9th day of August, 1957, between the hours of 10.30 a.m. and

5.30 p.m. at the Belair Government School.
All persons whose names appear on the list of small growers who delivered
starch from the above districts to the Arrowroot Association during Crop 1956-57
are entitled to vote and each person is entitled to one vote only.

1. Short title. This Notice may be cited as the Prices Contr
ment No. 2) Notice.
2. Amendment. The prices set out hereunder are the Maximum prices
for which the articles enumerated may be sold in the Colony, and the First
Schedule Part B to the Prices Control Order 1947 (S.R. & 0. No. 25) is hereby
amended by deleting all the words, figures and symbols occurring in the columns
opposite the articles-"Rice (Demerara) -Superfine, First Quality and Second
Quality," and substituting therefore the following:
