The salary is in the scale of $2,880 x
$120-$3,480 per annum, plus a pay

(c) Subsistence Allowance in ac-

Free first class passages to St. Vin-

Leave and Leave Passages:
Vacation leave will be granted at the

period of 12 months resident service;
such leave is accumulable up to 180

HEADMASTER DOMINICA GRAMMAR
SCHOOL.
Applications are invited from suitably
qualified candidates for appointment to
the post of Headmaster, Dominica
Grammar School, particulars of which
are as follows:-
1. Appointment:
The post is on the permanent and
pensionable establishment and the ap-
pointment carries with it liability to
transfer to any post of equivalent sta-
tus in the Windward Islands.
2. Salary:
The salary is in the scale of $3,840 x
$120-$4,560 per annium, plus a pension-
able pay addition of 20% of salary. The
point of entry into the scale will be
determined according to the candi-
date's qualification and experience.
3. Qualifications Required:
Degree of a recognized University.
4. Duties:
Officer appointed will be required to
supervise a school of 260 boys;
Knowledge of Games and all other
extra--curricular activities associated
with a Secondary School;
He will be required to take part in

He will also be required to perform
any other duties which may be assigned
to him from time to time.
5. Quarters:
Quarters are not provided.
6. Leave:
The officer will be eligible for vaca-
tion leave at the rate of 45 days for

8. General Information:
The officer will be subject to the Colo-
nial Regulations, the Windward Islands

ernment officials are liable to taxation
imposed by local enactments.

qualified persons for appointment, on
contract for 3 years, as Mistress (Physical
Education), Bishops' High School for
Girls, with salary on the scale $3,048-
$5,760 per annum. A gratuity of 221/2%
of salary will be paid, in addition to
salary, in respect of each completed
period of 3 months' satisfactory service.
Initial salary will be commensurate with
experience.
Duties: To teach all branches of
Physical Education in the school to
pupils from nine to nineteen years old.
Games include hockey, net ball and
tennis; gymnastic equipment will be In-
creased and facilities for teaching
swimming are proposed.
Qualifications: The Diploma of a
recognized College of Physical Education
and suitable teaching experience. Can-
didates should not be over 35 years of
age.
General: Leave will be granted in ac-

Further notice will be given if a Wages Regulation Order is made giving
effect to the proposals set out hereunder.

THE SHOP ASSISTANTS WAGES COUNCIL.
The Shop Assistants Wages Council hereby gives notice of its intention to
submit to the Governor Proposals for fixing the Statutory minimum remuneration
specified in the Schedule below.
The Wages Council will consider any written representation with respect to
these proposals sent to it within 14 days from the 28th day of May, 1957. Any
such representation should be signed by the person making the same (giving
his or her address) and sent to the Secretary of the Wages Council. Copies of the
proposals can also be obtained from the Secretary of the Wages Council.
It is desirable that persons making objection should state the precise grounds
of their objection.

SCHEDULE.
MINIMUM REMUNERATION OF SHOP ASSISTANTS.
1. The minimum rate of remuneration to be paid to shop assistants in the
Town of Kingstown and within a radius of two miles therefrom shall be as follows:
Sales Clerks:
(a) Males $44.00 per month or $11.00 per week.
(b) Females ..... $38.00 per month or $ 9.50 per week.
2. In all other areas the minimum rate of remuneration shall be as follows:
(a) Males $40.00 per month or $10.00 per week.
(b) Females $34.00 per month or $ 8.50 per week.
Provided that the minimum remuneration to be paid to sales clerks under
the age of 18 years and over the age of 14 years shall be seventy-five per centum
of the above rates.
Provided further that sales clerks 18 years of age and over who have
been employed for the first time as a sales clerk shall be paid for the first six
months seventy-five per centum of the above rates and thereafter the above
minimum rates shall apply.
3. The minimum rate of remuneration to be paid to office clerks shall be
as follows:
Office Clerks:
(a) Males ...... $55.00 per month.
(b) Females ..... $50.00 per month.

Provided that the minimum remuneration to be paid to all office clerks
under the age of 18 years and over the age of 14 years shall be seventy-five per
centum of the above rates.
Provided further that office clerks 18 years of age and over who have
been employed for the first time as an office clerk shall be paid for the first six
months eighty per centum of the above rates and thereafter the above minimum
rates shall apply.
HOLIDAYS WITH PAY.
Every shop assistant shall, in addition to Sundays and Public Holidays, be
entitled to not less than two weeks holiday in every year on full pay.
