WHEREAS it Is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor-in-Council considers that any land should
be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect to be
made:
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor-in-Council that the under-
mentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit, the
protection of the Pipe Line at Golden Grove:
Now THEREFORE IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Excellency the Governor acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of
Saint Vincent that upon the Second Publication of this Notice in the Gazette
all that parcel of land at Golden Grove in the Parish of Charlotte in the Colony
of Saint Vincent belonging to Edwin Williams and measuring 54,497 square feet
and bounded on the North by a Road, on the South by Crown Lands, on the East
by a Road and by a Stream, and on the West by lands of Joseph Arthur, shall
vest absolutely in the Crown:
AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing the
number C 49 has been prepared by Mr. Lance R. Pierre, Licensed Land Surveyor,
and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the Survey Office in the town of
Kingstown in the said Colony.

SALARIES.
It is announced that Mr. G. S. V.
PETTER, Educational Adviser to the
Comptroller, has, with the agreement
of the Secretary of State for the Colo-
nies, been appointed to carry out an
independent review of Primary School
Teachers' Salaries in the Windward
Islands. It is expected that Mr.
PETTER will begin to work on the
review, on or about November 9th,
and will spend about 3 weeks in the
Windward Islands on it.

The official commemoration of Re-
membrance Day will take place at the
War Memorial, Market Square, Kings-
town, beginning at 10.45 a.m.
The form of the ceremony will be as
follows: -
1. Arrival of His Honour the Admin-
istrator at 10.57 a.m.
2. At 11 a.m. a gun will be fired from
Police Headquarters to indicate
the commencement of the two
minutes silence, and another gun
at 10.02 a.m. to denote the termin-
ation of the silence.
3. The Last Post.
4. Hymn: "0 God our help in ages
past".
5. Prayers.
6. Laying of Wreaths.
7. "Reveille".
8. National Anthem.
9. His Honour the Administrator
leaves.
All ex-service men should wear their
medals. Medals held by relatives of
deceased men may be worn by such rela-
tives on the right breast.
For the purpose of the Ceremony and
the silence to be observed at the War
Memorial, time will be taken by the
Cathedral clock.
All persons are requested to observe
the two minutes silence at 11.00 a.m. and
all vehicular traffic and normal activities
should be suspended during the silence.

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified graduates of approved
Universities for appointment to the
post of Master, Queen's Royal College,
Trinidad, to teach Modern Languages.
Qualifications: Candidates should
hold an Honours degree in French or
Spanish or both.
Duties: The successful Candidates
will be required to teach Spanish and
French to School and Higher School
Certificates and Scholarship standards
and must be prepared to serve in any
Government Secondary School in the
Colony. Ability to assist in games and
athletics will be additional qualification.
Salary: The post is pensionable and
the salary scale is $3,600-$120-$4,320
-$240-$6,000 per annum. Increments
will be given for approved teaching
experience on the basis cf one incre-
ment for each eighteen month's ex-
perience.
Leave: Vacation leave 45 days per
annum cumulative for four years ; 28
days sick leave and 14 days local leave
per calendar year.
Passages: Free first class passage to
Trinidad on first appointment for the
officer and his family not exceeding five
persons in all.
Leave Passages: Free passages on
leave after a tour, not exceeding the
cost of normal sea passages to the United
Kingdom for the officer, his wife and
children, subject to the maximum of
three adult fares. Leave passages are
subject to review and are not a per-
manent right of the officer.
Quarters : Quarters are not specifical-
ly provided, but if they become avail-
able and are allocated to the officer, he
will be required to pay rent at 8% of
salary subject to a maximum of $50 per
month. A house allowance at the pres-
cribed rates may be also payable.
Copies and not originals of testi-
monials should be submitted.
Applications containing full particu-
lars of the applicant (including ex-
perience) should be submitted to the
Colonial Secretary, Red House, Trini-
dad, not later than 5th Novemnler, 1956

is indebted to the Government of the Colony in the sum of Two Dollars and
Sixteen Cents, she being a defaulter in the payment of "Land and House Taxes"
(including fines and fees) for the years 1954-1955 inclusive in respect of one
House Spot situated at Chapmans in the Colony of St. Vincent.
AND WHEREAS the said House Spot was on the 14th April 1956 put up for sale
by Auction, in accordance with the provision of the "Land and House Tax
Ordinance", Chapter 194.
AND WHEREAS no bid was offered for the said House Spot.
AND WHEREAS the aforesaid sum of Two Dollars and Sixteen Cents cannot be
raised by sale of Alexandriana Dougan's goods, chattels or other property.
AND WHEREAS it is provided by Section 48 of the "LanA and House Tax
Ordinance", Chapter 194, that on the occurrence of the circumstances mentioned
in the preceding recital, the property which was offered for sale should Vest in
Her Majesty for the use of the Government of the Colony.
AND WHEREAS it is provided by the aforementioned Section that the Treasurer
shall forward to the Registrar of the Court for the purposes of due registration
a Statement in form to be prescribed by the Governor giving the particulars
of the land or house, the name of the person in default, the amount dce and

said house or land shall not Vest as aforesaid until such Statement has been
recorded by the Registrar and published in the Gazette and thereupon such

INDUSTRIAL WORKERS WAGES REGULATION
(AMENDMENT) ORDER.
(Gazetted 30th October, 1956.)
1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Workers
Wages Regulation (Amendment) Order, 1956, and shall be read as one with the
Industrial Workers Regulation Order, 1956 (S.R. & 0. 1956, No. 26) (hereinafter
referred to as the principal Order).
2. Schedule to principal Order amended. ParagraDh 5 of the
Schedule to the principal Order is hereby amended by substituting the words
"sick leave" for the word "holiday" appearing i-1 the first line thereof.
Made by the Governor under section 10 (4) of the Wages Councils Ordinance,
1953 (No. 1 of 1953), this twenty-fifth day of October, 1956.

WHE~rE s by section 7 of the Bank Holidays Ordinance, Cap. 161, it is enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to time, by
P oclamation in the Gazette, to appoint a special day to be observed as a Bank
Holiday throughout the Colony:_
AND JWHEREAS it is meet that a day should be set apart at the close of the
Hurricane Season for General Thanksgiving for our preservation from the
elements and for other blessings vouchsafed to us to be duly observed in all
Churches, Chapels and other places of worship:
Now THER~EFORE I do, with the advice of the Executive Council, and pursuant
to the authority in me vested by the said Ordinance, hereby appoint Monday,
the 5th day of November, 1956, to be observed as a Bank Holiday throughout the
Colony, so that it may be set apart for General Thanksgiving as aforesaid.
GIVEN under my hand and the Public Seal of the Colony of Saint Vincent
this twenty-seventh day of Octobef in the Year of Our Lord One thousand
nine hundred hnid fifty-six and in the Fifth Year of the Reign of Her
Majesty QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND.
