Applice tions are invited from suitably
qualified candidates for two appoint-
ments to the post of Announcer/Operator
in the Windward Islands Broadcasting
Service, St. George's, Grenada, particu-
lars of which are as follows:-
2. The salary of the post is $1,680 per
annum, with annual increments of $48

3. The appointment is non-pension-
able, and will be on probation for six
months. Subject to satisfactory com-
pletion of the probationary period,
appointment will be on contract for two

the supervision of the Programme
Director and his Assitants.

me Asssitant in the Windward Islands
Broadcasting Servic e, St. George's,
Grenada, particulars of which are as
follows :-

He will be required to work under the
direction of the Programme Director
anil supply the main station in Grenada
with news and recordings of talks, dis-
cussions, music, etc. He will act as
representative of the Windward Islands
Broadcasting Service. The successful
candidates will be required to undergo
a period of training with the main
station in Grenada.
6. Free passages will be provided
for the selected officers on appointment,
(including wife and children not exceed-
ing five persons in all), and on satisfac-
tory termination of the contract.
7. Vacation leave on full salary will
be granted at the rate of one week for
each completed period of three months

Legislation in force in the Colony.
4. The duties of the post will in-
clude :-
(a) Responsibility for the proper
running of all kitchens and pan-
tries and such other parts of the
Hospital as may be assigned to
her.
(b) The preparation of daily menus
for the Hospital, including the
Staff Dining Hall, in collabora-
tion with the Matron and Sisters
in charge '.f the wards.
(c) Have immediate charge of and
he personally responsible for all
food supplies and fuel issued to
her.
(d) The preparation and submission
of all diet slips to the Steward
for issne of supplies and chbck.
(e) Supervision of the actual prepa-
ration and'serving of all meals

STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS,
1956, No. 31.
THE COLONIAL PRISON SERVICE MEDAL
REGULATIONS.
(Gazetted 7th August, 1956.)
1. Short title. These Regulations may be, cited as the Colonial Pris6n
Service Medal Regulations, 1956.
2. Description. For the purpose of these Regulations, the expressions
"The Colonial Prison Service Medal" and "the Medal" shall, mean the award
described in Clause 2 of the Royal Warrant dated the 28th October, 1955.
3. Service required. The Colonial Prison Service Medjal will be granted
as a reward for 'long service and good conduct to all staff in the Prison Service
of the Colony of Saint Vincent, below the rank of Assistant Superintendent or
a comparable rank, who on or after the 28th October, 1955, shall have completed
eighteen years' continuous service as herein after defined.
A Clasp will also be granted to a recipient of the Medal on his completing
twenty-five years' qualifying service, and a further Clasp on completing thirty
years' qualifying service. For each Clasp so awarded a small silver rose may
be added to the ribbon when wern alone.
4. Continuity of service. Qualifying service in the Prison Service of
ether Colonies or Territories under Her Majesty's Protection or Administration
may be allowed to reckon towards the required period of qualifying service, if
the total period of such service amounts to not less than eighteen years: Provided,
however, that where service has been rendered in more than one such territory
as aforesaid an interval not exceeding twelve months between any two periods
of service shall not be regarded as breaking the continuity of such service; pro-
vided also that a break in service not exceeding six calendar months in, any one
such territory shall not be regarded as breaking the continuity of such service.
5. Exemplary character. For the purpose of these Regulations ser-
vice shall only be reckoned as qualifying service if it is certified that the character
and conduct of the person recommended for the grant of the Medal or Clasp
has been exemplary.
"Exemplary character" for the purposes of this section shall be deemed
to be borne by an Officer who has throughout his period of service, exhibited
y( sound moral principles and performed his duties efficiently.
6. Recommending authority. Recommendations for the award of
the Medal or Clasp shall be submitted by the Superintendent of Prisons to the
Governor. The Medal will be awarded on the authority of the Governor and
a notification of such award shall be published in the Gazette.
7. Forfeiture and restoration.. I
(a) A recipient of the Medal or ,Clasp who is convicted of a criminal offence
or is dismissed or removed from the Prison Service for misconduct shall
forfeit the Medal and Clasp unless the Governor shall otherwise direct.
(b) A Medal or Clasp so forfeited may be restored to the recipient by the
Governor at his discretion.
(c) A notice of forfeiture or restoration shall in every case be published
in the Gazette.
8. Loss of medal. The loss of a Medal shall be reported by the recipient
to the Superintendent of Prisons as soon as possible after the loss has been
discovered, and a lost Medal may be replaced by the Governor at the recipient's
expense, unless it is decided to relieve him of this liability.
