The successful Can.iilate will Ihave

control of the system passes in two
years.
The post is permailenti ;i(nd pension-
able and carries salary in the scale
$3,120 x $120-$3,840 ier annimi. The
qualifications and experience of t' lle suc-
cessful candidate will be taken into
account in fixing his point of entry iln
the scale.
Travelling allowanc,- is also payable
at an approved rate. The present rate
is $912 per annum.
Should a suitable candidate not )he
available, consideration will he given to
any applications which may be received
for the temporary filling if the post of
Assistant Engineer on a contract basis.
Free passages are provided ,n 1st
appointment for officer and family (wife
and children) up to a maxi mum of five
passages.
Assisted passages to ollicer and wife
to the United Kingdom or United States
of America on Vacation Leave up to a
maximum of $528 per passage each way.
Minimum period to qualify for assisted
passages is a tour of five (5) years.
Quarters are not provided.
Housing accommodation is not easily
available. If suitable Government quar-
ters are available, officer may he permit-
ted to rent at a rate not exceeding 10%
of salary.
Basic essential furniture can be pro-
cured. Cutlery and crockery may be
purchased locally.
Income tax is payable at approved
rates.
Applications should be accompanied
by two recent testimonials.

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO.

Applications are invited from Doctors
with medical qualifications registrable
in the United Kingdom and with at
least one year's hospital experience
after qualification for vacant posts of
Grade 'C' Medical Officer in the Medical
Department of the Government of
Trinidad and Tobago.


Oliiers will b,. stationed at one or
other of the two Colonial Hospitals.
They will lie required to carry out the
hiuties normally performed by house
physicians or house surgeons in acute
generall hospitals of this size (500 beds).
The'\ will l)e required to assume

the supervisioli of Specialist Officers
anli/or experienced Grade 'B' Officers
(of Registrar's status).
Appointment will le on probation for
two years or i preferable on agreement
for three years. The salary scale ranges
from $4,560 to $6.480 per annum, and
officers maiy I), appointed at a suitable
point in the scale depending on previous
experience.
Government quarters, if available,
will be provided at the rental of 8% of
salary up to a maximum of $50 per
month. Where quarters are not avail-
able a house allowance will be paid in
accordance with local regulations.
Free passages on first appointment are
provided for ollicer and family not
exceeding five persons in all. Also free
passages on vacation leave subject to a
Maximum of three ad ult fares in accor-
dance with local leave regulations.

ings and conditions of employment of Agricultural Workers in St. Vincent,
&e., will re-open its sittings on Wednesday, the 5th October, 1955. at the Coun-

Pedestrian crossings in Kingstown, and
it is requested that on approaching
these crossings, a sharp look out be kept
for P.,Iestrians entering the lanes.
2. If a Pedestrian enters a lane, traffic
should stop to permit the Pedestrian to
cross the road safely. As the name
implies, it is a Pedestrian crossing, and
all ,Irivers are hereby requested to give
the Pedestrian priority.

WHEREAS it is enacted by subsection (2) of section 1 of the Currency (Amend-
ment) Ordinance, 1955 (No. 3 of 1955) that the said Ordinance shall come into
operation on a day to be fixed by the Governor by Proclamation in Lhe Gazette:
Now THEREFORE I, ALEXANDER FAiCONER GILES, the officer for the time being
administering the Government of the Colony of Saint Vincent, in exercise of
the powers vested in me by subsection (2) of section 1 of the Currency (Amend-
ment) Ordinance, 1955 (No, 3 of 1955) do hereby proclaim that the said Ordin-
ance shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1955.
