as a temporary Nominated Member of the Legislative Council of Saint Vincent
with effect from 6th April, 1955, and during the period of absence from the.
Colony of the Honourable Langley Lewis Punnett.

AN ORDINANCE to amend the Currency Ordinance, 1950.

[ On Proclamation. ]

Enacted by the Legislature of Saint Vincent.


1. (1) This Ordinance may be cited as the Currency
amendmentt ) Ordinance, 1955, .nd shall be read as one with
t' s Currency Ordinance, 1950, (hereinafter referred to as the
p inciral Ordinance).
(2) This Ordinance shall come into operation on a day to
be fixed by the Governor by Proclamation in the Gazette.

2. Section 2 of the principal Ordinance is hereby amended
by substituting for the defini'ic of the expression "currency
note" appearing therein the f, ll wing-
"currency note" means a )y note provided, issued, deemed
to have been issued, or reissued under the provisions
of this Ordinance".

3. Subsection (2) of section 4 of the principal Ordinance
is hereby repealed and replace is follows-
"(2A) Currency Notes of the Government of Jamaica issued
from time to time under 'he provisions of the Currency
Notes Law of the Coloni of Jamaica and being, at the
time of tender, legal to ider in Jamaica hereinafterr
referred to as "Jamaica notes"), shall be deemed for
th'a purposes of this 0 dinance to have been issued
finder this Ordinance."

4. Subsection (1) of section 6 of the principal Ordinance
is hereby amended by substituting a colon for the full-stop
appearing at the end thereof and by inserting immediately
thereafter the following proviso--


*Provided that for the purposes of this Ordinance
the value of Jamaica notes shall bel calculated at the rate
of one dollar for four shillings and two pence."
