(No. 22 of 1946)
AND
IN THE MATTER of a Declaration by the Governor in Council that a certain
portion of land at Hamilton in the Island of Bequia, St. Vincent Grenadines
is to be acquired for a public purpose:
DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND
(SECOND PUBLICATION).
WHEREASr-it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance 1946
(No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land should
be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect to
be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned land should be acquired for a public purpose, that is to say the
construction thereon of a drain:
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Excellency the Governor acting by and
with the consent of the; Executive Council of the Colony of Saint Vincent, that
upon the second publication of the Declaration in -the Gazette, all that piece
and parcel of land containing 446 square feet a strip 6 feet wide along the east-
ern boundary of and at present in the ownership of Evelyn Osborne, and
bounded on the Worth by lands of Alfred Tannis, on the East by lands of
Margaret Quashie, on the South by the public road and on the West by the
remaining lands of Evelyn Osborne, shall be acquired for the above mentioned
purpose and shall vest absolutely in the Crown:
AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that the plan showing
the above mentioned land has been drawn and prepared by Mr. E. Stinson
Campbell, licensed Land Surveyor, and may be inspected at all reasonable
hours at the Surveys Office in the town of Kingstown in the said Colony.

AN ORDINANCE further to amend the Saint VTincent Memorial
Hall (Trustees) Ordinance, 1954.
Enacted by the Legislature of Saint Vincent.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the St. Vincent Memo-
rial Hall (Trustee) (Amendment) Ordinance, 1955, and shall
be read as one with the St. Vincent Memorial Hall (Trustees)
Ordinance, 1954 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Ordin-
ance).
2. Section 2 of the, principal Ordinance is hereby amended
by substituting for the word "means" appearing in the defini-
tion of "Trustees"; the word -"includes".
3. Section 3 of the principal Ordinance is hereby amended
as follows: -
(a) by inserting before the words "Colonial Tia2.-
urer" appearing' in the first line of subsection (1) thereof,
the word "The";
(b) by substituting for the words "to sue and be sued"
appearing after the word "capable" in the eighth line of
subsection (1) therecf, the words "of suing and begin;

ees. The Incorporated Trustees shall notify the
Registrar of Companies, of any such appointments
giving the names and addresses of persons so appoint-
ed and the Registrar of Companies shall register the
same in his office."

and to require the Incorporated Trustees to notify the Registrar of appoint-

AN ORDINANCE to amend the Public Order Ordinance, 1931.
Enacted by the Legislature of Saint Vincent.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Public Order
(Amendment) Ordinance, 1955, and shall be read as one with
the Public Order Ordinance, 1951, (hereinafter referred to as
the principal Ordinance) and all amendments thereto.
2. Before section 5 of the principal Ordinance the follow-
ing section shall be inserted:-

cession shall notify the Chief of Police at

knowingly takes part in any meeting or

The object of this Bill is to require twenty-four hours notice to be given
of all intended public meetings and processions. The provisions of the Public

AN ORDINANCE further to amend the Passenger Boats Ordin-
ance, Cap. 201.
Enacted by the Legislature of Saint Vincent.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Passenger Boats
(Amendment) Ordinance, 1955, and shall be read as one with
the Passenger Boats Ordinance (hereinafter referred to as the
principal Ordinance) and all amendments thereto.
2. Section 2 of the principal Ordinance as amended by the
Passenger Boats (Amendment) Ordinance, 1929, is hereby
amended as follows:--
(a) by the deletion of the clause therein defining adult
person";
(b) by the deletion of the clause therein defining "Passen-
ger" and the substitution therefore of the following
definition:-
"Passenger" means any person carried in a ship, except-
(a) a person employed or engaged in any capacity
on board the ship on th, -business of the ship,
(b) a person on board the ship either in pursuance
of the obligation laid upon the master to carry
shipwrecked, distressed or dther persons or by
reason of any circumstance that neither the

OBJECTS AND REASONS.
The object of this Bill is to replace the definition of "passenger" contained
in section 2 of the Passenger Boats Ordinance (Cap. 201) as amended by a
definition which would include persons of one year of age and over; and to
provide that the certificate fixing the number of persons to be carried by
passenger boats should relate to all persons and not merely to adult persons.
2. The definition follows section 26 (1) (c) of the Merchant Shipping
(Safety Convention) Act, 1949. which oso appears in the Interpretation
Clause of th'e draft British Caribbean Merchant Shipping Bill.-

Enacted by the Legislature of Saint Vincent.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Local Governmehnt
(Amendment) Ordinance, 1955, and. shall be read as one with
the Local Government Ordinance, 1951, (hereinafter referred
to as the principal Ordinance) and any amendments thereto.
2. Section 4 of the principal Ordinance is hereby repealed
and replaced as follows:-

Colony with the exclusion of the Town of
Kingstown, may be divided into districts
which shall be subject to the jurisdiction of
local authorities to be called respectively

COTTON PROTECTION (CLOSE SEASON) ORDER.
(Gazetted 5th April, 1955).
1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Cotton Protection (Close
Season) Order, 1955.
2. Close Season. The period beginning on the 1st day of May, 1955,
and ending on the 15th day of August, 1955, for the Island of Saint Vincent;
the period beginning on the 15th day of April, 1955, and ending on the 31st day
of July, 1955, for the Islands of Bequia and Mustique; and the period beginning
on the 1st day of May, 1955, and ending on the 15th day of July, 1955, for the
St. Vincent Grenadines (except the Islands of B'equia and Mustique) shall be
close seasons within the meaning of the Cotton Protection Ordinance, (Cap. 37).
Made by the Governor in Council under section 3 of the Cotton Protection
