ANNOUNCEMENT.
WEST INDIAN FEDERATION.
The following announcement made by the Secretary of State for the Colonies
is published for general information:-
"Mr. J. S. MORDECAI, Executive Secretary Regional Economic Commit-
tee, will, in addition to his present duties, act as Assistant Commissioner for
the preparation of the Federal Organisation. He will be attending next
month's Conference in Trinidad on the Control of the Movement of Persons
within the Federation."

IN THE MATTER OF THE LAND ACQUISITION ORDINANCE
(No. 22 of 1946).
AND
IN THE MATTER of the acquisition by the Governor in Council of certain plots
of land situate at Troumaca in the Parish St. David in the Island of St. Vin-
cent containing the areas shown in the Schedule hereto.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION
(Under section 3 of the Ordinance).
WHEREAS it was decided by the Governor in Council that the plots of land
described in the Schedule hereto should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
the execution therein of Anti-erosion measures for the protection of the village
of Troumaca and adjacent lands;
AND WHEREAS the said plots of land have been acquired compulsorily for the
public purpose aforesaid;
AND WHEREAS plans showing the above-mentioned plots of land may be inspect-
ed during working hours at the Survey Office in the town of Kingstown in the
Island of St. Vincent;

POST OF ESTIMATOR AND CHIEF
DRAUGHTSMAN PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT, ST. VINCENT,
B. W. I.

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified candidates for the post
of Estimator and Chief Draughtsman,
Public Works Department, St. Vincent.
2. The post, which is non-pension-
able, carries a salary scale of $2,592 per
annum rising by annual increments of
$96 to $3.168 per annum and the point
in this scale at which a suitable candi-
date will be appointed will depend on
his qualifications and experience, Con-
sideration is being piven to making the
post pensionable. Quarters are not pro-
vided. Free passages for the success-
ful candidate and his wife and family
will be provided on appointment. A
Transport Allot-ance of $732.00 is per
annum payable if the appointee main-
tains a motor car for official travelling.
3. Candidates must have had a
Secondary Education with a sound
knowledge of Mathematics and English.
They should also have a minimum of
two years experience as Estimator-
Draughtsman, and an aggregate of not
less than 3 years in other phases of
Public Works stch as Building Con-
struction, Land Surveying and Land
Draina ge.
4. The successful candidate will be
required to prepare estimates of cost
and materials from drawings, and to
maintain statistical records of Construc-
tion Unit Cos!s for work operations per-
formed by the Department.
