VACANCY FOR ASSISTANT ATTORNEY
GENERAL, BRITISH HONDURAS.
Applications are invited for the post
of Assistant Attorney General, British
Hond uras, which will fall vacant about
the middle of 1955.
2. The duties of the post are:-
(1) To prosecute for the Crown in
the Courts of the Colony and
to appear for the Government
in civil proceedings;
(2) To act as legal adviser to Gov-
ernment, as directed by the
Attorney General ;
(3) To draft or assist in drafting
the laws of the Colony ;
(4) To perform any other duty and
render any f1'irther assistance
to the Attorney General as may
be directed.
3. The qualifications requireci are
those of a liarrister-:it-Law with at least
four years' practical experience.
4. The post is on the permanent and
pensionable establishment and carries a
salary in the scale of $3,120 x 120-
3,600 x 150-3.900 1E.B. $4,050 x 150-
4,200. ($1 B.H. = 1 Sterling). The
point of entry to the scale will depend
on the qualific itions and experience of
the successful candidate.
5. Except in the case of officers con-
firmned in their appointments with other
Government, the appointment will be
on prob-ttion for two years in the first
instance. The successful candidate will
be required to produce a medical certi-
ficate of fitness, and will be subject to
Colonial Regulations and to local Gen-
eral Orders.
6. Free Passages will be provided on
first appointment andi on leave for the
officer and his family, not exceeding
four persons in all. Leave with full
salary is at the rate of live days for each
completed month of resident service,
with a maximum of 180 days. The
length of a tour is 2 to 3 years.
Free passages of leave are provided for
the officer and his wife, subject to the
provision of funds annually by the Leg-
islative Assembly. When travelling on
duty a subsistence allowance of $2.50
a day for the first six (lays, $2.00 a day
after the first six days, and $1.75 a day
after the first thirty days, is paid.
7. Free quarters are not provided.
But, if Government quarters are allocat-
ed to the officer, rental is payable at the
rate of 71% of salary and the basic heavy
furniture is provided atan annual rental
of 6% of its total value.
8. Income Tax is payable in accord-
ance with local legislation.
9. Applications, containin-g full par-

Colonial Secretary, Belize. British Hon-
duras, to reach him as soon as possible
and in any event not later than the
28th February, 1955.

The following Orders in Council have
been received in the Colony and are
available for inspection at the Govern-
ment Office by persons interested :-

1954 (S.I. 1954 No. 221.
THE FOREIGN COMPENSATION (BUL-
GARIA) (REGISTRATION) ORDER,
1954 (8.1. 1964 No. 220).
The purpose of these Orders in Conn-
cil is to enable the Foreign Compensa-
tion Commission to receive applications
to register details concerning claims
relating to nationalization or expropria-
tion of British property. or interests in
property, in Hungary, Rouimania, or
Bulgaria.
The l'oreign Compensation Conm-
mission already have the names and
addresses of a number of persons who
have written to the Foreign Office, and
application forms will be sent to them
at those addresses. If, owing to changes
of address, the application forms are not
received within a short time, those
applicants should write to the Secretary,
Foreign Compensation Com mission, 1,
Princes Gate, London, S.W.7, giving
their names and addresses and stating
under which Order in Council they
wish to apply for registration. Other
persons who wish to apply should write
direct to the Secretary. Foreign Com-
pensation Commission.
It is emphasized that no assurance
can be given that an application, or the
registration of a claim under the above-
mentioned Orders, will necessarily be
followed by negotiation by Her Majest) 's
Government in respect of that claim
with any foreign Government, or that
any compensation will be obtained. If,
in due course, negotiations are under-
taken concerning these or any other
categories of claims with a foreign
Government information contained in
claims registered under these Orders
may be of assistance to Her Majesty's
Government t.

gories of claims in respect of these
countries should be sent to the Foreign
Compensation Commission. Arrange-
ments for obtaining information about
claims against the countries concerned,

present Orders, will be announced later
by the appropriate Department of Her
Majesty's Government.

It is hereby notified for general infnr-
mation that there exists an allocation
of dollars for the purchase of private
cars and commercial vehicles from dol-
lar sources.
It is to be clearly understood that the
allocation has been allowed in order to
meet cases where essential need can be
proved and the following conditions
will be taken into account in assessing
the eligibility of applicants for licences
to import these vehicles :-

(i) the purchase of a United State.
North American Vehicle is essen-
tial and no reasonable substitute
can be found in the non dollar
world ;
(ii) the cars are made available only
to users whose business or pub-

they have a genuine need for ihis
type of car tor purpose of impor-
tance to the territory ;
(iv) no resale is allowed except to a
user who would qualify under
the same conditions as the origi-
nal sale.

for deliveries to the public on every
working day of the week from 8.30 a.m.
to 12 noon only, and persons having
business at the warehouse are particular-

DISTRIBUTION OF ROUMANIAN.
BULGARIAN AND HUNGARIAN ASSETS.
NOTICE is hereby given that Direc-
tions have been issued by Her Majesty's
Treasury in the United Kingdom for
the distribution of Roumanian, Bul-
garian and Hungarian assets among
citizens of the United Kingdom and
Colonies and British Protected Persons
who have certain claims against the
Governments or Nationals of those
three coqlntries.
2. For this purpose, Roumanian assets
held in the United Kingdom an,d, in the
Colonial territories will be dealt with
as a single fund as also will the Bulga-
rian and Hungarian assets. Eligible
claims will be met from each of the
three funds at dividends which will be
the same in. the Colonial territories, as
in the United Kingdom.
3. Persons who are citizens of the
United Kingdom and Colonies or Brit-
ish Protected Persons, now residing in
