ADMISSION TO INNS OF COURT.
The attention of intending students
is drawn to Consolidated Regulation
No. 3 and particularly to that section of
this Regulation which reads :-
'No person shall be admitted as a
student while engaged in any gain-
ful occupation which in the opinion-'
of the Masters of the Bench of the
Inn to which he seeks admission is
incompatible with the position of a;
student seeking Call to the Bar."
All persons, therefore, who are gain-
fully employed when making applica-
tion for admission are requested to set
out the nature of such occupation and
duties involved. The applicant should
also state whether or not he intends to
relinquish such gainful occupation if
his admission is approved.
This requirement includes intending
stu.ients who are in governmentt Ser-
vice of one kind or another or oin study-
leave whether paid or unpaid, or in
receipt of a schiolarship allowance.

PRISON (AMENDMENT) RULES.
(Gazetted 18th January, 1955).
1. Short title. These Rules may be cited as the Prison (Amendment)
Rules, 1955, and shall be read as one with the Prison Rules, 1945 (S.R. & 0. 1945,
No. 39) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Rules) and all amendments
thereto.
2. Rule 222 of principal Rules amended. Rule 222 of the principal
Rules as replaced by Rule 9 of 'the Prison (Amendment) Rules, 1949, (S.R. &. 0.
1949, No. 72) is hereby amended by deleting the word "one-fourth" appearing in
the fourth line of sub-paragraph (a) of the said Rule and substituting therefore
the word "one-third".
Made by the Governor in Council under section 1 of the West Indian Prisons
Act, 1838 and approved by the Governor in Council this 7th day of January, 1955.

WHEREAS by section 7 of the Bank Holidays Ordinance, Cap. 161, it is enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to time, by Procla-
mation in the Gazette, to appoint a special day to be observed as a Bank Holiday
throughout the Colony:
AND WHEREAS it is deemed fit and proper that the occasion of the visit of Her
Royal Highness the Princess Margaret, should be marked in this Colony by the
declaration of public holidays:
Now THEREFORE I do, with the advice of the Executive Council, and pursuant
to the authority in me vested by the said Ordinance, hereby appoint Tuesday,

WHEREAS by section 29 of the Maintenance Ordinance, 1949, (No. I of 1949)
provision is made for the enforcement in this Colony of maintenance orders made
by a court in any British possession or territory under Her Majesty's protection
where the governor is satisfied that reciprocal provision has been made by the
Legislature of such possession or territory for enforcement of maintenance orders
made by the Courts of this Colony:
AND WHEREAS it is provided further that the Governor on being so satisfied
may by proclamation extend Part V of the Maintenance Ordinance, 1949, (relat-
ing to the reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders) to any such possession
or territory:
AND WHEREAS the governor is satisfied that the Legislature of the States of
Jersey has made reciprocal provisions for the enforcement within the States of
maintenance orders made by the Courts of this Colony:
Now THEREFORE I OSMOND RANDOLPH KELSICK the Officer for the time being
Administering the Government of the Colony of Saint Vincent pursuant to the,
authority vested in me by section 29 of the Maintenance Ordinance, 1949, (No. 1 of
1949) do hereby extend Part V of the said Ordinance to the Island of Jersey.
