PRESS COMMUNIQUE.
COMMONWEALTH SUGAR AGREEMENT,
The Government of New Zealand
have informed the Government of the
United Kingdom of their desire to par-
ticipate until 1957 in a Commonwealth
Sugar Agreement. 'The United King-
-dom Government have expressed to the
New Zealand Government great satis-
faction at this decision and have inform-
ed Governments of other participating
Commonwealth Countries accordingly.
Under arrangements proposed by the
New Zealand Government, Ministry of
Food will continue to supply until end
of 1952 all New Zealand raw sugar re-
quirements at the price to be negotiated
guaranteed price. New Zealand will
purchase remainder of her requirements
during this period in the world market.
United Kingdom Government have
accordingly informed participating coun-
tries that, if producers so desire, the
United Kingdom will be prepared to
increase by 75,000 tons, i.e., from
1,568,000 tons to 1,643,000, the amount
of sugar the United Kingdom has under-
taken to buy each year at guaranteed
price from 1953-1957.

ATTENDANCE.
It is hereby notified for general in-
formation that His Excellency the
Governor has directed that the follow-
ing charges shall be made for attendancee
by the Veterinary OffiBer, Wind ward
Islands to privately owned li'b sfock :-
1. A charge of 15 ceits 'per mile eah
way to offset travelling expenses- or the
full cost of hired transport in such cases
where this may be necessary.
2. The cost of any vaccines, sera, in-
jections or medicines issued or used by
the Veterinary Officer.
3. Profegsiohal fees for complicated
clinical or other examinations, surgical
operations and procedures.

MOTOR CAR SERVICE.
Sealed Tenders are invited for the
provision of motor cars for the convey-
ance of public officers during 1951.
The Tenders submitted sliould con-
tain particulars of the charges proposed
to be made for waiting. Rates stibmit-
ted should not exceed those contained
in Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 15
of 1947.
The contract will be terminable by
one month's notice on either side, and
the person to whom the. contract is
awarded will be required to enter into
a bond with Government for the satis-
factory performance of the contract.
Tenders close at 3 p.m. on Thursday,
9th Novembler, 1950, and should be ad-
dressed to the Government Secretary,.

TENDERS FOR CONVEYANCE OF MAILS
AND PARCELS (WINDWARD).
Tenders will be received at Govern-
mnent Office, up to 3 p.m. on Thursday,
9th November, 1950, for the conveyance
daily of mails, including parcel post
mails, from, to, and between, each and
all Post Offices of Kingstown, Sion Hill,
Arnos Vale, Calliaqua, Stubbs, Mesopo-
tamia, Bridgetown, New Ground, Colo-
narie and Georgetown, by Motor Vehi-
cle for the year 1951.
2. The Motor Vehicle will berequired
to leave Georgetown at about 7.30 a.m.
daily, and to return,'lqaving Kingstown
at about 2 p.m. daily, or at such other
hours as the Colonial Postmaster may
from:time to time direct.
-.3. .All,.mails will be delivered at, and
collected from, :the General .Ppst: Office
and District Post Offices, except in the
case of New Groupd apd Mesppobamia.
Mails for and from the District Post
Offices of NewGround and Mesopota-
mia will be delivered to, and collected
from the mail carriers of those two Dis-
trict Post Offices at the point on the
Main Road at which the mail carriers of
those two District Offices deliver their
mails to the Motor Vehicle.
4. The Contract will be'for a period
of one year to 31st December, 1951, and
may be terminated by two months' no-
tice on either side. The person to
whom the contract is awarded will, be
required to enter into a bond with Gov-
ernment for the satisfactory perform-
ance of the contract.
5. Tenders should state the amount
of subsidy required, and should be ad-
dressed to the Government Secretary,
Government Office, and distinctly mark-
ed on the envelope "Tender for the
conveyance of mails and parcels (Wind-
ward)".
6. The Government does not bind it-

9th November, 1950, for the conveyance
daily of mails including Parcel Post
mails from, to, and between each and
all the Post Offices of Kingstown, Layou,
Barrouallie, Cumberland, Troumaca and
Chateaubelair on the Leeward Coast of:
the Island of St. Vincent by Motor
Launch from 1st January, 1951 and for
the Conveyance three times a week of
mails from, to, and between each of the
Post Offices already mentioned and the.
Post Office of Questelles.
2. The motor Launch will be required
to leave Chateaubelair at about 7 a.m.
daily except on the Thursday following
the first Wednesday of each month, and
to return to Chateaubelair leaving Kings-
town at about 3.00 p.m. daily except on
the first Wednesday only of each month.
On the first Wednesday of each month
the launch will be required to leave
Kingstown for Chateaubelair at about
1.30 p.m. and to return to Kingstown
the same evening leaving Chateaubelair
at about 7.00 p.m. The hours of leaving
Chateaubelair and Kingstown may be
modified by the Colonial Pos.tmaster.
3. The Motor Launch will be required
to provide a service for the carriage of
passengers and cargo at the present fixed
rates which will be supplied to intended
Tenderers, if required, on application at
Government Office and to call three
times a week on the itinerary in each
direction at Clare Valley for this pur-
pose and for the purpose of collecting
the mails from and delivering the mails
to Questelles Post Office.
4. All mails will be delivered at and
collected from the General Post Office
and District Post Offices except that
where such provision is made mails may
be delivered to and collected from the
mail carriers of the District Post Offices.
5. The Contract will be for a period of
one year to 31st December, 1951.
6. Tenders should state the amount
of subsidy required and should also
state separately the extra a.monnt of
subsidy which would he required if the
tri-weekly service to Clare Valley and
to Questelles Posr, Office were extended
into a daily service for those places.

Applications are invited for the post
of a Senior Clerk in the Government
Office, St. Vincent, in the salary grade
of $1,200 rising by annual increments of
$72 to $1,680 per annum. In addition, a
temporary Cost of Living Bonus is
payable.
2. The duties of this post include the
taking of verbatim notes of cases in the
Supreme Court and proceedings of the
Legislative Council.
3. No quarters are provided.
4. Experience in a Secretariat or other

TWEEN GRENADA-CARRIACOU-
UNION.
Tenders will be received at Govern-
ment Office, Grenada, for the convey-
ance of mails, passengers, and cargo
weekly by auxiliary vessel between
Grenada and Carriacon with an extend-
ed trip to Union Island once a fortnight,
and an additional fortnightly trip to
Carriacou. Auxiliary vessel should be
fitted with a lavatory.
2. The Contract will be for the period
of one year from the 1st January to the
31st December, 1951.
3. Tenders should state the amount
of subsidy required, and should be
sealed and addressed to the Government

EXAMINATION.
1. A course of lectures and demon-
strations in Hygiene and Sanitation
will shortly be given by the Health
Department. At the end of the course
an examination will be held and certifi-
cates issued to successful candidates.
2. To be admitted to the course of
training, an applicant who is not a pro-
bationary-Sanitary-Insp)ctcr or an ap-
prentice-Sanitary--Inspector must be a
holder of a School Certificate or an
equivalent qualification. All other ap-
