VILLAGE.
The Governor in Council has approv-
ed of the use, as a Church Burial
Ground, of a portion of the lot or parcel
of land situated at Overland Village in
the Parish of Charlotte, on which stands
the new Methodist .Church, and which
contains by admeasurement 8,712 sq.ft
and is bounded as follows :-
On the North by a public road,
On the East by the Windward High-
way,
On the South by lands of Eli Jordan
and Alexander Bowen, and
On the West by lands of Horatio
Ryan.

COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARY
CONFERENCE, NEW ZEALAND.
It will be recalled that in 1948 the
Honourable T. A. MARRYSHOW, C. B. I.,
was selected as Windward Islands Dele-
gate to the Elmpire Parliamentary
Conference in London. Selection in
1948, was made by the Unoffical mem--
bers of the Grenada L-gislature, Grenada
being the oldest of the four colonies of
the Windward Islands.
St. Vincent comes next in group
seniority and the -Honourable E. A. C.
HUGHES has been selected by the
Unofficial Members of the St. Vincent
Legislature as Windward Island Dele-
gate to the Commonwealth Parliamen-
tary Conference to be held in New
Zealand commencing on the 13th Nov-
ember this year. Mr. HUGHES will be a
guest of the New Zealand Branch of the
Commonwealth Parliamentary Associa-
tion.

PRELIMINARY NOTE.
At the direction of the Central Hurri-.
cane Committee a brochure is in course
of preparation containing :
(1) detailed arrangements for warn-
ings in the event of the approach of hur-
ricanes and concerning the organisation
of hurricane relief;
(2) nominal roll of Hurricane Com-
mittees;
(3) information on the relationship of
Central Committees to District Commit-
tees;
(4) supply Services;
(5) protection and Reserve Services;
(6) shipping arrangements,
and a number of other directions and ar-
rangements which will become operative
in St. Vincent and the St. Vincent Gren-
adines in the event of storm warning
and if hurricanes materialise.
Pending completion, publication, dis-
tribution and sale of this brochure, the
customary Notices are meanwhile being
published hereunder for information and
guidance.

hurricane threatening or approaching
the Island, the following warning will
be given:-

ring for two periods of three thinutes
with an interval of 10 minutes.
'Note:-In order to avoid confusion the
time of commencement of ringing
the bells is to be taken from the
Church nearest to the Police Station
in each town or village.
FOR SHIPPING IN KINGSTOWN
HARBOUR.
Day.
A white flag with a black centre will
be flown from the Police Barracks.
Day or Night.
A siren will be blown from the Police
Barracks.

EXPORTATION OF LIVESTOCK.
With reference to Notice No. 305 of
22nd June, 1950 appearing in the Offi-
cial Gazette of the 23rd June, 1950, it
is hereby notified for general informa-
tion that the ban on the exportation of
Cattle, Sheep and Goats-is hereby lifted
as from the date of the publication of
this notice. This order does not and
will not apply until further notice, to
the dependency of Bequia from which
no animals whatever will be permitted
to be exported to any other island
including St. Vincent and the other
Grenadines.
The export of these animals will be
permitted by licence from the Supplies
Control Department, and under super-
vision of the Department of Agriculture
which will ensure the disinfection of the
hoofs of the animals concerned before
embarkation.
It is to be understood that the ban on
the exportation on Pigs still remains
until further notice.

AGATHA SLATER, DECEASED.
Any person claiming to be heir or next
of kin of the above-named born of
JANE JACK and EDWARD SLATER in the
Island of St. Vincent who resided for
some time in the Island of Trinidad and
died on 21st June, 1945, intestate, a
Major in the Salvation Army in the
Island of Jamaica, B. W. I., where she
had her last fixed place of abode should
communicate with the Administrator
General for Jamaica, Government Build-
ings, East Block, Kingston P. O. with
necessary evidence to establish such
relationship. All claims should be
forwarded to reach him by 30th July,
1950.

FRENCH GUIANA.
The following death on the 19th
February, 1950, has been notified by the
French Guiana Authorities :
ELIAZAR STEPHEN, a bachelor, born
in St. Vincent, B.W.I., on the 26th
March, 1886, son of Brun Stephen and
Catherine Richards, both deceased.

VACANCY FOR BINDER IN GOVERN-
MENT PRINTING OFFICE,
ST. VINCENT.
Applications are invited for the post
of Binder in the Government Printing
Office, St. Vincent.
The post, which is pensionable, car-
ries salary in the scale $480 x $24-
$576 per annum. A temporary cost of
living bonus at the rate of $109.20 per
annum at $480 rising by $1.80 for
every $24 to $116.40 per annum at
$576 is also payable, and there are
facilities for overtime work. Salary at
a higher point than $480 will be grant-
ed, if necessary, to a qualified candidate.
Applicants must possess a full know-
ledge of binding and ruling and must
produce particulars to that effect.

Dr. J. P. EUSTACE. Optometrist,
will hold eye clinics every Tuesday and
Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. com-
mencing on Tuesday, 4th July, 1950,
at the Colonial Hospital. No case will
be seen by the optometrist except on a
written recommendation of a Medical
Officer, including Private Practitioners.
School Children, inmates of Govern-
ment Institutions and paupers will be
attended free of charge. Members of
the labouring classes will be -harged a
fee of 36 cents per visit. It is not
intended that these clinics should be
attended by other members of Society.

NOTICE. POST OF MARKET CLERK.
The price of White Sea Island Clean
Cotton Lint paid by the Raw Cotton
Commission for the 1949-50 Crop has
been increased from 96 cents per lb to
$1.04 per lb. All persons who sold their
seed cotton to the Government Cotton
Ginnery on the Cooperative System will
be paid an increase of 1i cents per lb at
the time of the payment of the Bonus
in December, 1950.
2. All cotton growers are informed
that the Raw (otton Commission has
agreed to pay $1.20 per lb for the 1950-
51 Crop. of White Sea Island Clean
Cotton Lint.
3. The Government Cotton Ginnery
will accordingly be purchasing Clean
Sea Island Seed Cotton at 20 cents per lb.

ST. VINCENT GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL (AMENDMENT)
REGULATIONS.
(Gazetted 18th July, 1950.)
1. Short title. These Regulations may be cited as the St. Vincent Girls'
High School (Amendment) Regulations, 1950, and shall be read as one with the St.
Vincent Girls' High School Regulations, 1941, (S. R. & 0. 1941, No. 24), hereinafter
referred to as the principal Regulations) and all amendments thereto.
2. Regulation 32 revoked and replaced. Regulation 32 of the
principal Regulations is hereby revoked and replaced as follows:-
32. The Government will offer annually-
(a) to pupils of the School who shall be under 14 years of age on the
31st day of December of the year in which the award is to be made,
an exhibition tenable at the School for a period of 3 years with
free tuition, games and library facilities. Such exhibition shall be
awarded on the results of a competitive examination to be
prescribed by the Head Mistress of the School; and
(b) to pupils of the School who shall be under 17 years of age on the
31st cay of December of the year preceding the year in which the
award is made, two exhibitions tenable at the School for a period
of 2 years with free tuition, games and library facilities. Such
exhibitions shall be awarded on the results of the School
Certificate Examination held in the year next preceding the year
in which the award is to be made.
No girl shall be allowed to retain the benefit of more than one scholarship
at the same time."

GOVERNMENT AND ASSISTED PRIMARY OC'OOL
(AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS.
(Gazetted 18th July, 1950.)
1. Short title. These Regulations may be cited as the Government and
Assisted Primary Schools (Amendment) Regulations, 1950, and shall be read as one
with the Regulations for Government and Assisted Primary Schools made by the
Governor in Council on the 3rd day of February, 1938, (hereinafter referred to as
the principal Regulations) and all amendments thereto.
2. Regulation 39 revoked and replaced. Regulation 39 of the
principal Regulations as revoked and replaced by the Education (Governi ent and
Assisted Primary Schools) (Amendment) Regulations 1948 (S.R. & 0. 1948 No. 83)
is hereby further revoked and replaced as follows :-
39. Each school shall in every year be classified as of 1, 2, or 3, in
general efficiency within its grade. Any school failing to attain the 3rd class
of efficiency shall be regarded as inefficient. The recurrent failure of a
school to attain at least the 3rd class of efficiency shall make the Head
Teacher thereof liable to be proceeded against under Regulation 69, on a
charge of neglect of duty."
3. Regulation 69 further amended. Regulation 69 of the principal
Regulations as amended is hereby further amended by inserting after the words
class or status in the fifth line thereof the words stoppage of increment ".
4. Regulation 81 Revoked. Regulation 81 of the principal Regulations
as revoked and replaced by the Education (Government and Assisted Primary
Schools) (Amendment) Regulations 1948 (S.R. & 0. 1948, No. 83) is hereby revoked.

1937, (No. 29 of 1937) this 30th day of June, 1950.
