P. D. MACDONALD, C.M.G., appoint-
ing him to be Governor’s Deputy

Antigua, whilst visiting the Virgin
Islands from the 7th to the 17th
May, 1955.

A PROCLAMATION.
K. W. BLACKBURNE,
Governor.
WHEREAS by subsection (4) of
section 21 of the Leeward Islands
Acts, 1871 to 1950, as amended, it is
provided that a Bill reserved for the
signification of Her Majesty’s pleasure
shall become a law so soon as Her
Majesty shall have given Her assent
thereto, through a Secretary of State,
and the Governor shall have signified
such assent by proclamation and that
every such law shall come into
operation on the date of such procla-
mation, unless it shall be enacted
either in such law or in some other
enactment that it shall come into
Operation on some other date, in
which case it shall come into opera-
tion on that date:
AND WHEREAS thé Governor
has reserved for the signification of
Her Majesty’s pleasure thereon a Bill
passed by the General Legislative
Council on the 16th day of January,
1955 entitled the Leeward Islands
(Amendment) Act, 1955:
AND WHEREAS the Governor
has been advised by a Secretary of
State of the signification of Her
Majesty’s assent to the said Bill.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, KENNETH
WILLIAM BLACKBURNE, a Knight
Commander of the Most Distinguish-
ed Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, an Officer of the Most Excel-
lent Order of the British Empire,
Governor and Commander in Chief in
and over the Colony of the Leeward
Islands and Vice Admiral of the
same, do by this my proclamation

With regard to Statutory Rule and
Order No. 16 of 1955 of the General
Government, which provided for the
cessation of the existence of the
Antigua Executive Council with effect
from the 23rd April, 1955, it is hereby
notified for general information that,
at a meeting of the Antigua Legisla-
tive Council held on the 29th April,
1955, the Hon. V. C. BIRD, the Hon.
KE. H. Lake and the Hon. EH. FE.
WILLIAMS were elected to serve on
the reconstituted Executive Council
of the Presidency of Antigua.

Attorney and the Administrative
Secretary, Antigua, to be Presidential

NOTICE TS HEREBY given that
in pursuance of Rules made by the
Chief Justice under Section 16 of the
Windward Islands and Leeward Is-
lands Courts Order in Council, 1939,
on the 16th day of October, 1941, as
amended, the Honourable the Puisne
Judge selected for the sitting of the
Court in the Antigua Circuit has
appointed the undermentioned day
on which the ensuing Circuit shall
sit in the Presidency, that is to say:—
On Tuesday the 10th day of May,
1955, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon.

CITY RATE FOR 1955.
Notice is hereby given that the
Oity Rate Assessment List for 1955
has been posted on the outer door of
the Treasury and at the Central
Board of Health Office.
The rate fixed on properties north
of the houses bordering on Alfred
Peters Street under an assessed
annual rental value of $48.00 is 5%
and of $48.00 and over 74%. The
rate on all other property under an
assessed annual rental value of $48.00
is 10% and of $48.00 and over 15%.
Any person who objects to any
assessment in the said list must lodge
his objection in writing with the
Secretary, Central Board of Health
ANTIGUA.

1. Short Title. This Order may be cited as the
Consular Conventions (United States of Mexico) Order, 1955.
2. Application to United States of Mexico.
Section 2 and section 4 of the Consular Conventions Act, 1950
shall apply to the United States of Mexico.
Made by the Governor in Council this 25th day of April,
1955.
