appointment as Acting Attorney
General, incapable of acting as an
Official Member of the Legislative
Council of Antigua.

2. Consequent upon the above

Acting Crown Attorney, to be a
temporary Official Member of the
abovementioned Legislative Council.

A PROCLAMATION.

CHARLESWORTH Ross,
Commissioner.

WHEREAS unéder section 3 of the
Cotion Planting (Regulation) Ordi-
nance,
provided that the Governor in Coun-
cil may from time to time by
Proclamation published in the Gazette
and by Public Notice declare any
period of each year to be a close
planting season within the meaning
of the said Ordinance either for the
whole Presidency or for such area or
areas thereof as may be specified in
such Proclamation, and that any
Proclamation so issued and published
may be revoked, amended or varied
by a Proclamation similarly issued
and published:

AND WHEREAS by Proclamation
dated the llth day of March, 1955,
and published in the Gazette on the
24th day of March, 1955, and by

_ Public Notice the Governor in Coun-

cil declared the period from the lst
day of April, 1955, to the 15th day of
August, 1956, both days inclusive, to
be a close planting season within the
meaning of the said Ordinance
throughout the Presidency of Mont-
serrat and every part thereof except
in planting Date Experimental Plot
at the Grove Botanic Station:

AND WHEREAS by Proclamation
dated the 29th day of March, 1955,
and published in the Gazette on the
7th day of April, 1955, and by Public
Notice the Governor in Council
varied the period aforesaid and
declared the period from the 16th
day of April, 1955, to the 15th day of
August, 1956 both days inclusive,
shall be a close planting season within
the meaning of the said Ordinance for
the whole Presidency of Montserrat,
(except the Planting Date Experi-
mental Plot at the Grove Botanic
Station, to which this Proclamation
shall not apply).

AND WHEREAS it is expedient
to vary the period aforesaid:

AND WHEREAS the officer
administering the General Govern-
ment of the Colony is absent from
the Presidency of Montserrat:

1926 (No. 7 of 1926) it is”

NOW, THEREFORE, !, CHARLES-
WORtH Ross, Commissioner of the
Presidency of Montserrat, by and
with the advice of the Hxecutive
Council of the said Presidency, do by
this my Proclamation declare that the
period from the Ist day of May, 1955
to the 15th day of August, 1956, both
day's inclusive, shall be a close plant-
ing season within the meaning of the
said Ordinance for the whole of the
Presidency of Montserrat (except the
Planting Date Experimental Plot at
Grove Botanic Station, to which this
Proclamation shall not apply).

AND I further declare that the
Proclamation dated the 29th March,
1955, made under section 3 of the
Cotton Planting (Regulation) Ordi-
nance, 1926, (No. 7 of 1926) and
published in the Gazette on the 7th
day of April, 1955, is hereby revoked.

AND all Her Majesty’s loving sub-
jects in the said Presidency and all
others whom it may concern are
hereby required to take due notice
hereof and to give their ready obedi-
ence accordingly.

GIVEN at the Commissioner’s Office,
Montserrat, this 15th day of
April, 1955, and in the fourth
year of Her Majesty’s reign.

CITY RATE FOR 1955.

Notice is hereby given that the
City Rate Assessment List for 1955
has been posted on the outer coor of
the Treasury and at the Contral
Board of Health Office.

The rate fixed on properties north
of the houses bordering on Alfred
Peters Street under an assessed
annual rental value of $48.00 is 5%
and of $48.00 and over 74%. The
rate on all other property under an
assessed annual rental value of $48.00
is 10% and of $48.00 and over 15%.

Any person who objects to any
assessment in the said list must lodge
his objection in writing with the
Secretary, Central Board of Health
within fourteen days after the date
of this notice.

CITY RATE FOR 1955.

Notice is hereby given that the
City Rate Assessment List for 1955
has been posted on the outer coor of
the Treasury and at the Contral
Board of Health Office.

The rate fixed on properties north
of the houses bordering on Alfred
Peters Street under an assessed
annual rental value of $48.00 is 5%
and of $48.00 and over 74%. The
rate on all other property under an
assessed annual rental value of $48.00
is 10% and of $48.00 and over 15%.

Any person who objects to any
assessment in the said list must lodge
his objection in writing with the
Secretary, Central Board of Health
within fourteen days after the date
of this notice.
