No. 9 of 1954.
An Ordinance to make provision for raising a loan
for an amount of one hundred and sixty-eight
thousand dollars for the purpose of financing
the housing programme in the Villa Area of
the Presidency.
ENACTED by the Legislature of Antigua as
follows:—
WHEREAS it is expedient to raise a loan of Preamble.
one hundred and sixty-eight thousand dollars for
the purpose specified in the Schedule hereto:
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the short Title.
Development (Villa Housing) Loan Ordinance,
1954,
2. The Governor is hereby authorised to Authority to
raise a loan of an amount sufficient to produce as tana 12
nearly as may be the sui of one hundred and sixty- $168,000,
eight thousand dollars and such further sume as
may be necessary to defray the expenses of issue.

4. The loan hereby authorised or any part of
it may be raised in London under the provisions of
the General Loan and Stock Ordinance, 1950 or,
notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the
said Ordinance, independently of that Ordinance,
as the Governor or the Crown Agents for Oversea
Governinents and Administrations (hereinafter
referred to as the Crown Agents) acting on his
behalf may decide.
(1) Any sum raised to defray the
expenses of issue shall be applied only to that
purpose.
(2) Save as aforesaid, the money to be bor-
rowed under the authority of this Ordinance shall
be appropriated and applied to the purpose specified
in the Schedule hereto.
6. (1) Tf any loan hereby authorised is
raised under the provisions of the General Loan
and Stock Ordinance 1950, then the contribution
to sinking fund as contemplated by the provisions
of sections 14 and 28 of the said Ordinance, as the
case nay be, shall commence in respect of any issue
under this Ordinance not later than one year after
the date from which the interest on such- issue
shall commence to run.
(2) Tf any loan hereby authorised is raised
independently of the General joan and Stock
Ordinance, 1950, the following provisions shall
apply :—
(a) So long aus any portion of the loan
remains outstanding the Governor shall in each
half-year ending with the day on which the
interest on the loan falls due appropriate out
of the general revenues and assets of the Presi-
deney a sum equal to one half-yea r’s interest
on the whole of the loan Seen da and shall
remit that sum to the Crown Agents at such
time as will enable them to pay thereout the
then current half-year's interest on the day on
which it falls due,

(6) The Governor shall also in’ each
half-year ending as aforesaid appropriate out
of the said revenues and assets of the Presi-
dency for the formation of n sinking fund for
the repayment of the loan at par an additional
sum in respect of the total nominal amount of
the loan outstanding age to one half of the
annual contribution to be decided upon by the
Governor on the issue of the loan and shall
remit that sum to the Crown Agents with the
remittance hereinbefore mentioned:
Provided that the said contribution shall
commence not later than one year after the
date from which the interest on the loan shall
commence to run.
(c) The aforesaid contribution shall be
not less than such amount as may be deter-
mined with the approval of the Secretary of
State to be sufficient to redeem the loan at its
due date.
(d) The Crown Agents shall place at
interest or invest so much of the money so
remitted to them as aforesaid as shall not be
required for the payment of interest for the
current half-yerr in) the purchase of such
securities as may be approved by the Secretary
of State as a sinking fund for the final extine-
tion of the debt and the Crown Agents shall
also place at interest or invest the dividends,
interests or produce of such investinents in the
purchase of like securities and may from time
to time with the approval of the Secretary
of State change any such investments and sh: ll
hold sueh funds in trust for the repayment of
the principal moneys for the time being
represented by the loan,
(e) In case the sinking fund provided
for by this Ordinance shall be insufficient for
the payment of all the principal moneys
borrowed under the wuthority of this Ordinance

FOR THE ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN LAND IN THE ISLAND
OF ANTIGUA REQUIRED FOR PUBLIC PURPOSE.
ff IS HEREBY DECLARED that the Governor in
Council with the approval of the Legislative Council of the
Presidency of Antigua considers that the land described in
the Schedule hereto being the property of Raymond
Ebenezer Jarvis deceased but subject to a life interest in
favour of Joyce Frederica Jarvis, should be acquired for
public purposes, namely, for the erection of « Market Shed
ant Abattoir in the Town of Parham in the Island of
Antigua.
SCHEDULE.
All that piece or parcel of land situate in the Town of
Parham in the Island of Antigua containing 6,043 square
feet and bounded as follows, that i is to say on the North and
West by the Public Road, on the East by a wall and lands
of Gordon and Richards and on the South by a wall and
land of Edwards.
Made by the Governor in Council this 12th day of
October, 1954.

FOR THE ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN LAND IN THE PREsI-
DENCY OF ANTIGUA REQUIRED FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES.
It is Hereby Declared that the Governor in Council
with the approval of the Legislative Council of the Presi-
deney of Antigua considers that the lands forming part of
Five Islands Estate situate in the Parish of Saint John in
the Island of Antigua and more particularly described in
the Schedule hereto, should be aequired for public purposes,
namely :—
(1) to obtain a site for the erection of a school and
provision of playground;
(2) to obtain an area for extension of the existing
village of Five Islands;
(3) to provide agricultural plots for the villagers
of Hive Islands; and,
(4) to provide a grazing area for the stock of the
said villazers.
SCHEDULE.
All that portion of land forming part of the Five
Islands Estate and consisting of two parcels of land contain-
ing in the whole 125 acres or thereabouts situated on the
Five Islands peninsula in the Parish of St. John in the
Presideney of Antigua being:—
(1) an area lying north of the Five Islands road
and west of the village of Five Islands, and
(2) an area lying south of the Five Islands road
and west of the said village.

An Ordinance to make provision for raising a loan
for an amount of one hundred and sixty-eight
thousand dollars for the purpose of financing
the housing programme in the Villa Area of
the Presidency.
ENACTED by the Legislature of Antigua as
follows:—
WHEREAS it is expedient to raise a loan of Preamble.
one hundred and sixty-eight thousand dollars for
the purpose specified in the Schedule hereto:
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the short Title.

2. The Governor is hereby authorised to Authority to
raise a loan of an amount sufficient to produce as tana 12

4. The loan hereby authorised or any part of
it may be raised in London under the provisions of
the General Loan and Stock Ordinance, 1950 or,
notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the
said Ordinance, independently of that Ordinance,
as the Governor or the Crown Agents for Oversea
Governinents and Administrations (hereinafter
referred to as the Crown Agents) acting on his
behalf may decide.
(1) Any sum raised to defray the
expenses of issue shall be applied only to that
purpose.
(2) Save as aforesaid, the money to be bor-
rowed under the authority of this Ordinance shall
be appropriated and applied to the purpose specified
in the Schedule hereto.
6. (1) Tf any loan hereby authorised is
raised under the provisions of the General Loan
and Stock Ordinance 1950, then the contribution
to sinking fund as contemplated by the provisions
of sections 14 and 28 of the said Ordinance, as the
case nay be, shall commence in respect of any issue
under this Ordinance not later than one year after
the date from which the interest on such- issue
shall commence to run.
(2) Tf any loan hereby authorised is raised
independently of the General joan and Stock
Ordinance, 1950, the following provisions shall
apply :—
(a) So long aus any portion of the loan
remains outstanding the Governor shall in each
half-year ending with the day on which the
interest on the loan falls due appropriate out
of the general revenues and assets of the Presi-
deney a sum equal to one half-yea r’s interest
on the whole of the loan Seen da and shall
remit that sum to the Crown Agents at such
time as will enable them to pay thereout the
then current half-year's interest on the day on
which it falls due,

(6) The Governor shall also in’ each
half-year ending as aforesaid appropriate out
of the said revenues and assets of the Presi-
dency for the formation of n sinking fund for
the repayment of the loan at par an additional
sum in respect of the total nominal amount of
the loan outstanding age to one half of the
annual contribution to be decided upon by the
Governor on the issue of the loan and shall
remit that sum to the Crown Agents with the
remittance hereinbefore mentioned:
Provided that the said contribution shall
commence not later than one year after the
date from which the interest on the loan shall
commence to run.
(c) The aforesaid contribution shall be
not less than such amount as may be deter-
mined with the approval of the Secretary of
State to be sufficient to redeem the loan at its
due date.
(d) The Crown Agents shall place at
interest or invest so much of the money so
remitted to them as aforesaid as shall not be
required for the payment of interest for the
current half-yerr in) the purchase of such
securities as may be approved by the Secretary
of State as a sinking fund for the final extine-
tion of the debt and the Crown Agents shall
also place at interest or invest the dividends,
interests or produce of such investinents in the
purchase of like securities and may from time
to time with the approval of the Secretary
of State change any such investments and sh: ll
hold sueh funds in trust for the repayment of
the principal moneys for the time being
represented by the loan,
(e) In case the sinking fund provided
for by this Ordinance shall be insufficient for
the payment of all the principal moneys
borrowed under the wuthority of this Ordinance

ff IS HEREBY DECLARED that the Governor in
Council with the approval of the Legislative Council of the
Presidency of Antigua considers that the land described in
the Schedule hereto being the property of Raymond
Ebenezer Jarvis deceased but subject to a life interest in
favour of Joyce Frederica Jarvis, should be acquired for
public purposes, namely, for the erection of « Market Shed
ant Abattoir in the Town of Parham in the Island of
Antigua.
SCHEDULE.
All that piece or parcel of land situate in the Town of
Parham in the Island of Antigua containing 6,043 square
feet and bounded as follows, that i is to say on the North and
West by the Public Road, on the East by a wall and lands
of Gordon and Richards and on the South by a wall and
land of Edwards.

FOR THE ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN LAND IN THE PREsI-
DENCY OF ANTIGUA REQUIRED FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES.
It is Hereby Declared that the Governor in Council
with the approval of the Legislative Council of the Presi-
deney of Antigua considers that the lands forming part of
Five Islands Estate situate in the Parish of Saint John in
the Island of Antigua and more particularly described in
the Schedule hereto, should be aequired for public purposes,
namely :—
(1) to obtain a site for the erection of a school and
provision of playground;
(2) to obtain an area for extension of the existing
village of Five Islands;
(3) to provide agricultural plots for the villagers
of Hive Islands; and,
(4) to provide a grazing area for the stock of the
said villazers.
SCHEDULE.
All that portion of land forming part of the Five
Islands Estate and consisting of two parcels of land contain-
ing in the whole 125 acres or thereabouts situated on the
Five Islands peninsula in the Parish of St. John in the
Presideney of Antigua being:—
(1) an area lying north of the Five Islands road
and west of the village of Five Islands, and
(2) an area lying south of the Five Islands road
and west of the said village.
