Notice.
The Commissioner of the British
Virgin Islands, on the authority of
His Excellency the Governor, has
been pleased to asent to the following
Ordinance :—
Virgin Islands.
No. 7 of 1954. “The Constitution
and Elections Ordinance, 1954.â€
June 18

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE
LEEWARD ISLANDS.
A PROCLAMATION.
K. W. BLACKBURNE,
Governor.
WHEREAS by section 107 of the
Virgin Islands Constitution and Elec-
tions Ordinance, 1954 (No. 7/1954)
it is provided that the said Ordinance
shall come into operation on such day
as the Governor may by Proclamation
published in the Gazetée appoint and
that different days may be appointed
for the purpose of different provisions
of the said Ordinance:
AND WHEREAS it is expedient
to bring section 2 and Part III of the
said Ordinance into operation on the
day hereinafter mentioned.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, KENNETH
WILLIAM BLACKBURNE, a Knight
Commander of the Most Distinguished
Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, an Officer of the Most

Excellent Order of the British impire,
Tovernor and Commander in Chief
in and over the Colony of the
Leeward Islands and Vice Admiral of
the same, do by this my Proclamation
deelare that section 2 and Part ILL of
the said Ordinance shall come into
operation on the 19th day of June,
1954.
AND all Her Majesty’s loving sub-
jects in the Presidency of the Virgin
Islands and all others whom it may
concern are hereby required to take
due notice herecf and to give their
ready obedience accordingly.
GIVEN at the Government House,
Antigua, this 18th day of June,
1954, and in the third year of
Her Majesty’s reign.
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!
BY THE COMMISSIONER OF THE
PRESIDENCY OF THE
VIRGIN ISLANDS.
A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by paragraph (4) of
anbsection (3) of section 44 of the
Virgin Islands Constitution and Elee-
tions Ordinance, 1954 (No. 7/1954)
it is provided that commencing on
such day (hereinafter called “the
appointed day â€â€™) as the Commissioner
shall by proclamation appoint in res-

registering officer shall prepare in
and for such electoral district and
pursnant to the provisions of the said
Ordinance a preliminary list of all
persons who are qualified as voters in
the polling divisions comprised in the
said electoral district:
AND WHEREAS it is expedient
that the preparation of the prelimi-
nary lists of all electoral districts
shall be undertaken as soon as
possible.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, HENRY
ANTHONY CAMILLO HOWARD, Com-
missioner of the Presidency of the
Virgin Islands do hereby proclaim
and notify that Monday the 21st
day of June, 1954 shall be the
appointed day within the meaning
and for the purposes of paragraph
(a) of subsection (3) of section 44 of
the sail Ordinance in respect of all
electoral districts within the Presi-
dency of the Virgin Islands.
AND all registering officers and all
other Her Majesty’s loving subjects
in the Presidency of the Virgin
Islands are hereby required to take
due notice hereof and govern them-
selves accordingly.
GIVEN at the Commissioner's Office,
at Tortola in the Virgin Islands
this 18th day of June, 1954,
and in the third year of Her
Majesty’s reign.
