SCHOOL

Applications are invited for appointment
to the post of Headmaster of the Virgin
Islands Secondary School.
2. The post, which is pensionable, ear-
ries a salary of 450, 475x25-525.
Quarters-are not provided. Non-pension-
able cost of living allowances are being
paid at rates which would give this officer
187. 10 p.a, at a salary of 450 and
215 12.6 p.a.. t the rpaimun of the scale.
The appointment will be on probation for
one year.
3. The Virgin Islands Secondary School,
which has 50 to 60 pupils, the majority
girls, is the sole secondary school in the
Presidency. Its present academic aim is
to prepare children for the Cambridge
School Certificate. There is a hostel for
girls which it is hoped to open in 1951.


The Headmaster will be required, not only
to perform normal teacher duties, but
also to supervise the conduct of the hostel
(which will have a resident matron) and
to perform the administrative duties
arising from his being the head of the
Department of Secondary Education.
The teaching staff consisting of three-
Assistants and a Domestic Science teacher
4. Applications should reach the Com-
missioner, British Virgin Islands, not
later than 30tn November, 1950. They
should show the age, educational qualifi-
cations, experience, special subjects and
interests of candidates and should be
accompanied by copies of testimonials
Candidates should also state whether they
are married or single.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in
pursuance of Rules made by the Chief
Justice under Section 16 of the Leeward
Islands and Windward Islands (Couris)
Order in Council, 1939, the Circuit Judge
has appointed Monday, the 16th day of
October 1950 at the hour of ten o'clock'in
the forenoon and subsequent days fot a
special sitting of the Court in the Dornir-
ica Circuit for the trial of civil Causes in
the Supreme Court and the Summary
Jurisdiction Court, the hearing of appeals
from Magistrates and the trial of Criminal
Causes at the Court House at Roseau
Dominica.
All persons summoned to attend the
Court as jurors and witnesses on such day
as may be nereafter specified are warned
to take notice and govern themselves
accordingly.

THE PUBLIC OFFICERS' LEAVE (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1950,
MADE BY THE GOVERNOR-IN-COUNCIL UNDER THE POWERS
CONFERRED BY SECTION 3 OF AN ACT OF THE IMPERIAL PARLIA-
MENT PASSED IN THE 22ND YEAR OF THE REIGN OF HIS LATE
MAJESTY KING GEORGE THE THIRD; CHAPTER LXXV AND ALL
OTHER POWERS HIM THEREUNTO ENABLING.
[Gazetted 9th October, 1950.]
1. Short Title. This Regulations may be cited as the Public
Officers' (Amendment, No. 2) Regulations, 1950, and shall be read as one
with the Public Officers' Leave Regulations, 1930( (S. R. & 0. 1930, No.
5) as amended (hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations).
2. Amendment of Regulation 31. Regulation 31 of the
principal Regulations shall have effect as if for the words one month "
occurring in the thirteenth and fourteenth lines thereof respectively,
there were substituted the words three months ".
3. Commencement. These Regulations shall be deemedto
have come into effect on the 1st day of January, 1950.
4. Revocation. The Public Officers' (Amendment) Regula.
tions, 1950 (S. R. & O. 1950 No. 13) are hereby revoked.
