ROSEAU, TUESDAY, MAY 30, 1950. No. 21

Government Notices.
ADMINISTRATOR'S OFFICE.
17th MAY. 1950.
AIR SERVICE TO BARBADOS
Service. As from Tuesday the 23rd
May there will be a weekly air ser-
vice to Barbados by British Guiana
Airways Grumman Goose.. The Goose
will leave Barbados on Tuesday morn-
ings and return to Barbados the same
day. The service has been approved
for a period of nine weeks in the first
instance It may be possible for the
Goose to use Goodwill Bay, but the first
flight will be from Portsmouth. The
expected time of arrival of the Goose
at Portsmouth is 11.40 a.m. The
launch will leave Roseau at 30 a.m.
Fares. The single fare to Barbados
will be $35.00. The return fare will
be $66 50. Children under 12 half
fares. Passengers may book through
to St. Vincent. The fare to St. Vin-
cent will be $65.00. Passengers for
other islands will be able to go on by
British West Indian Airways schedul-
ed flights from Barbados.
Baggage. Each passenger will be
allowed 45t1s. of baggage free. No
excess over this weight will be allow-
ed if the Goose is fully booked. But if
some seats are empty passengers will
be notified on Mondays of the extra
weight of baggage they may carry.
Since the overall weight of passengers,
luggage and mails is limited to 1100ftb..
it is most important that passengers do

not arrive, unless specially notified,
with baggage weighing more than 45
lbs. If they do they may have to leave
some behind. When excess baggage
is allowed it will be charged for at
the rate of 16 cents a lb for every
ft. over 45tbs.
Bookings. All bookings will be
made a he Treasury. In order to
make sure of return seats passengers
returning to Dominica are advised to
book return flights. If for any rea-
son a. booking has to be cancelled
passengers a'e requested to notify
She Treasury, or in Barbados, British
West Indian Airways, as early as
possible.

CRASH LAUNCH H.
This launch was bought from ihe funrlk
allotted to Dominica for airfield develop.
ment Its purpose is to stand by at land.
ings and take-off of aircraft, in case of
accident, and to be available fur r ,cue
work at sea if necessary.
It was originally intended that if the-
regular air service operated from Ports-
mouth passengers would be taken there
in the old Government launch. This
launch has been lost, and as an interim
measure, passengers are being taken to
and from Portsmouth in the crash launch.
The accommodation is limited, and it is
regretted that it will not be i, -i.i to
give members of the public passages to
and from Portsmouth. Only Heads of
Government Departments on urgent duty
and members of Legislative Council will
be given passages in addition to passengers
ti'i -iln l by the air service.

SELECTION OF DELEGATES TO THE
WESI INDIAN CONFERENCE..'
In consultation with the Governors of
the British West Indian Colonies, it' has
been decided to modify the method of
selection of delegates to the West Indian
Conference.
The Caribbean Commission Agreement
lays it down that delegates to the Confer.
ence shall be appointed in accordance with
its constitutional procedure Hitherto
the arrangement has been that, of the
two delegates from each of the British
Colonies concerned, one is an unofficial
chosen by the local Legislature and the
other an unofficial nominated by the
Governor.
It has now been agreed that the selec-
tion of delegates should be made by the
local Legislatures. In the case of the
Windward Islands, the LOgislative Coun-
cils of Grenada, St Vincent, St. Lucia
and Dominica will be invited to select two
persons each; and from the names sub-
mitted, the Governor will make the final
-election of two delegates to represent the
Windward Islands.
