As recommended at-West Indian Gov-
ernors' Conference held in Barbados in
November, 1949, a Conference of Officials
from British Caribbean Commission Terri-
tories was held in Barbados from March
7th to March 14th to consider the Econ-
omic Problem of Regions in the light of
the revaluation of sterling in September,
1949. The members of the Conference

trends in sterling area and in the world in
general. It gave partieulars of eonsider-
atiea to the problem of cta-ge in diree-
tion of imports and exports, export incen-
tives, the measurement and control of
change in price and cost of living, wage
trends; the maintenance of fiscal stability
and development in new industry.
The Conference recognised, though
revaluation of sterling could not be view-
ed in isolation from other major economic
influence, it had thrown into relief some'
of the region's most difficult economic
problems and Conference recommended
to Governors that these should be review-
ed from time toltime on a regional basis.

AN ORDINANCE to extend the duration of the
present Legislative Council.

BE IT ENACTED by the Governor with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council of Dominica as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Legislative Coun-
cil Continuance Ordinance, 1950. Short title.
2. Notwithstanding the provisions of the Dominica Con-
stitution Ordinance 1936, and any Ordinances amending the

said Ordinance, the duration of the present Legislative Coun-
cil in and for the Colony shall be and is hereby extended to Cnnuance
the thirty-first day of January, 1951 unless such Council shall Council
be sooner dissolved.

BE Ir ENACTED by the Governor with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council of Dominica as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Magistrate's Short title
Code of Procedure (Amendment) Ordinance, 1950 and shall be L a. Act
read as one with the Magistrate's Code of Procedure Act as 3 1931

2. Subsection (1) of section one hundred and seventy Amenldment
of section
six of the Principal Act is amended by inserting the words 17i (t ,,f
"of the Supreme Court" between the word 'Registrar" the Principal
and the word "all" occurring in the fifthteen line thereof. Act.
3. Section one hundred and seventy seven of the Princi- Substitution
pal Act is hereby repealed and in place thereof the following of Sec:ion

the judgement in writing and sign the same at the time of
pronouncing the judgment and within fourteen days of
such pronoucement of the judgment appealed against shall
cause such reasons to be transmitted to the Registrar of the
Supreme Court and they shall be included in and form part
of the record of appeal.
(2) The Registrar of the Supreme Court shall
thereupon set the appeal down for nearing at the next
Court to be holden by the Judge and on application of either
party to the appeal shall supply such applicant with a copy
of the record of appeal or of any part thereof on payment
for the same at the rate of four cents per folio of 100
words.

The object of this Bill is to amend the Magistrate's Code of Procedure
Act (Cap. 61) so as to give effect to certain observations of the Legal
Advisers to the Right Honourable the Secretary of State contained in
despatch- dated 19th January, 1950.

Soil and Water Conservation Ordin-
ance, 1946.

BE IT ENACTED by the Governor with the advice
and consent of the Legislative Council of Dominica as
follows:--
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Forest, Soil Short Title,
and Water Conservation (Amendment) Ordinance, 1950,
and shall be read as one with the Forest, Soil and Water 1' o 19A48
Conservation Ordinance, 1946, as amended (hereinafter
referred to as the principal Ordinance).
2. After Section 24 of the principal Ordinance theInsertion of
following section shall be inserted :-- section 24A.
24A. It shall be lawful for the Chief Forest Officer

OBJECTS AND REASONS
At present the ForestlOfficers experience great difficulty in
a-certaining the boundaries of Crown Lands especially those ad-
joining small land holders who in most cases are unwilling to help.
In order to remove this difficulty and to facilitate the world of
verifying all boundaries to Crown Lands this Bill is introduced.
