The attention of the general public
is hereby drawn to the provisions of
the Saint John’s City Commissioners’
By-Law of 1927 No. 21 (Antigua
8. R. & O. No, 21 of 1927) Section 3
(2) sub-section VIII (¢) which reads
as follows :—

thoroughfare who shall place or allow
to remain thereon or on any other
open spaces or under any open gallery
abutting the street, any truck or
other vehicle; shall be guilty of an
offence, and shall upon summary
conviction be Hable to a fine not
exceeding £5 or to be imprisoned for
a period not exceeding one month ”

ole to remain on the road, seven days
after the date of this notice, shall be

Hurricane Precautions, 1963.

1. At the beginning of the Hurricane Season the public are advised to take precautions

to safeguard their homes and other property in the event of a storm.

During a hurricane the

central electricity supply will be turned off, and every household should therefore be provided with
& hurricane lauteri or a flash light (or preferably with both) which should be checked regularly
and kept in working order throughout the hurricane season.

2. Owners of barometers should take readings daily at 10 a.m.,

4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Any change lower than the usual diurnal one of 0°10 inch should be regarded with suspicion.

3. The masters or agents of vessels if in doubt should communicate with the Harbour

Master for information.

4. When barring up a house, on indication of bad weather, begin with the side facing

the direction of the prevailing wind, which varies from North West to North East.

Should the

centre of a storm pass over the island there will be a sbort period of calm during which the
Northern side of the building could be opened up and the Southern and Westerly sides closed.
Very often there is no calm, and under such circumstances it is wise to have everything securely

fastened.

(Michael’s Mount) Police Headquarters and other Police stations in the Island
denote the approach of disturbed weather:—-

A. A RED FLAG with black square in centre means Tropical disturbance reported;
likely to affect island of Antigua—CAUTION ADVISED.

B. TWO RED FLAGS, with black squares in centre—HURRICANE SIGNAL—
DANGER EXPECTED.

C. RED PENNANT when hoisted to serve as SMALL CRAFT WARNING only.

AT NIGHT.

A. TWO DETONATING ROCKETS will be Fired from the Harbour Master’s Office
to warn shipping.

B. A RED LIGHT will be displayed at Police Stations.

DAY & NIGHT.

The Police will go through St. John’s and Villages sounding their whistles.

Telephone Exchanges will inform subscribers.

After & hurricane warning hac been

received the news will be broadcast by The Antigua Broadcasting Service 644
kilocyeles at regular intervals:—9 a.m., 5 p.m. and more often if necessary.

of Antigua.

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS by section 5 (a) of the Public Holidays Act,
1954 (No. 19/1954) as amended, it is enacted that it shall be law-
ful for the Administrator from time to time with the advice of
the Executive Council to issue a proclamation appointing a special
day or part of a day to be reserved as a public holiday throughout
the Colony:

AND WHEREAS the Administrator, with the advice of
the Executive Council of the Colony of Antigua considers it ex-
pedicnt that the 6th day of August, 1963, should be reserved
and kept as a public holiday in the Colony.

NOW, THEREFORE, I DO, with the advice of the Execu-
tive Couneil of the said Colony of Antigua, in exercise of the
powers conferred by the said section of the said Act, appoint
Tuesday the 6th dav of August, 1963, a special day to be reeerved
asa Public Holiday in the suid Colony of Antigua.

AND all Her Majesty’s loving subjects in the said Colony
and all others whom it may concern are hereby required to take
due notice hereof and to give their ready obedience accordingly.

GIVEN at the Administrator's Office, Antigua,

The Vehicles and Road Traffic ‘Passenger Fares) Regulations, 1963, dated
May 18, 1963, made by the Administrator in Council under Section 76
of the Vehicles and Road Traffic Ordinance, 1951 (No. 4 of 1951).



1. Suorr Tiriy. These Regulations may be cited as the
Vehicles and Road Traffic (Passenger Fares) Regulations, 1963.

2. Inrerpretation. [n these Regulations “ taxi-cab”
means a public service vehicle other than a motor omnibus.

3. FARES AND OTHER PARTICULARS TO BE EXHIBITED IN
Taxi-Cass. (1) The driver of any taxi-cab shall exhibit in a
conspicuous place inside such taxi-cab an easily legible notice
specifying all the prescribed fares and rates for taxi-cabs and
also the number of passengers which such taxi-cab is licensed
to carry.

(2) Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with
the provisions of sub-regulation (1) of this Regulation shall be
guilty of an offence. , oO

4. Fares ror HIRING TAXI-cats. (1) The following
fares shall be the maximum fares chargeable in respect of taxi-
cabs for the distances mentioned.

(3) The maximum rate to be charged for time waiting
shall be $1.00 per hour. A proportionate part of the rate
charged shall be charged for any part of an hour, after the first
fifteen minutes of waiting, which shall be free.

(4) Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with
any of the provisions of sub-regulations (1), (2) and (8) of
this Regulation shall be guilty of an offence.

5. Fares For MoTOR Omnisuses. (1) The following
fares shall be charged per person in respect of motor omnibuses
for the distances mentioned: —

of sub-regulations (1) and (2) of this Regulation shall be guilty:

6. Revocation. The Vehicle and Road Traffic (Pas-
senger Fares) Regulations, 1952 (8. R. & O. 1952, No. 21)

declare that the said Ordinance shall come into operation on the
18th day of July, 1963.

AND all Her Majesty’s loving subjects in the Colony and
all others whom it may concern are hereby required to take
due notice hereof and give their ready obedience accordingly.

1. Crration. These Regulations may be cited as the
Legislative Council (Remuneration of Election Officers),
1963.

2. InrerrretTaTion. In these regulations—

‘“‘the Ordinance” means the Virgin Islands Constitution
and Elections Ordinance, 1954, as amended.

Hurricane Precautions, 1963.

1. At the beginning of the Hurricane Season the public are advised to take precautions

to safeguard their homes and other property in the event of a storm.

During a hurricane the

central electricity supply will be turned off, and every household should therefore be provided with
& hurricane lauteri or a flash light (or preferably with both) which should be checked regularly
and kept in working order throughout the hurricane season.

2. Owners of barometers should take readings daily at 10 a.m.,

4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Any change lower than the usual diurnal one of 0°10 inch should be regarded with suspicion.

3. The masters or agents of vessels if in doubt should communicate with the Harbour

Master for information.

4. When barring up a house, on indication of bad weather, begin with the side facing

the direction of the prevailing wind, which varies from North West to North East.

Should the

centre of a storm pass over the island there will be a sbort period of calm during which the
Northern side of the building could be opened up and the Southern and Westerly sides closed.
Very often there is no calm, and under such circumstances it is wise to have everything securely

fastened.

denote the approach of disturbed weather:—-

A. A RED FLAG with black square in centre means Tropical disturbance reported;
likely to affect island of Antigua—CAUTION ADVISED.

B. TWO RED FLAGS, with black squares in centre—HURRICANE SIGNAL—
DANGER EXPECTED.

C. RED PENNANT when hoisted to serve as SMALL CRAFT WARNING only.

AT NIGHT.

A. TWO DETONATING ROCKETS will be Fired from the Harbour Master’s Office
to warn shipping.

B. A RED LIGHT will be displayed at Police Stations.

DAY & NIGHT.

The Police will go through St. John’s and Villages sounding their whistles.

Telephone Exchanges will inform subscribers.

After & hurricane warning hac been

received the news will be broadcast by The Antigua Broadcasting Service 644
kilocyeles at regular intervals:—9 a.m., 5 p.m. and more often if necessary.

WHEREAS by section 5 (a) of the Public Holidays Act,
1954 (No. 19/1954) as amended, it is enacted that it shall be law-
ful for the Administrator from time to time with the advice of
the Executive Council to issue a proclamation appointing a special
day or part of a day to be reserved as a public holiday throughout
the Colony:

AND WHEREAS the Administrator, with the advice of
the Executive Council of the Colony of Antigua considers it ex-
pedicnt that the 6th day of August, 1963, should be reserved
and kept as a public holiday in the Colony.

NOW, THEREFORE, I DO, with the advice of the Execu-
tive Couneil of the said Colony of Antigua, in exercise of the
powers conferred by the said section of the said Act, appoint
Tuesday the 6th dav of August, 1963, a special day to be reeerved

The Vehicles and Road Traffic ‘Passenger Fares) Regulations, 1963, dated
May 18, 1963, made by the Administrator in Council under Section 76
of the Vehicles and Road Traffic Ordinance, 1951 (No. 4 of 1951).



1. Suorr Tiriy. These Regulations may be cited as the
Vehicles and Road Traffic (Passenger Fares) Regulations, 1963.

2. Inrerpretation. [n these Regulations “ taxi-cab”
means a public service vehicle other than a motor omnibus.

3. FARES AND OTHER PARTICULARS TO BE EXHIBITED IN
Taxi-Cass. (1) The driver of any taxi-cab shall exhibit in a
conspicuous place inside such taxi-cab an easily legible notice
specifying all the prescribed fares and rates for taxi-cabs and
also the number of passengers which such taxi-cab is licensed
to carry.

(2) Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with
the provisions of sub-regulation (1) of this Regulation shall be
guilty of an offence. , oO

4. Fares ror HIRING TAXI-cats. (1) The following
fares shall be the maximum fares chargeable in respect of taxi-
cabs for the distances mentioned.

(2) The maximum rate to be charged for distances not
herein listed shall be 40 cents per mile. -

(3) The maximum rate to be charged for time waiting
shall be $1.00 per hour. A proportionate part of the rate
charged shall be charged for any part of an hour, after the first
fifteen minutes of waiting, which shall be free.

(4) Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with
any of the provisions of sub-regulations (1), (2) and (8) of
this Regulation shall be guilty of an offence.

5. Fares For MoTOR Omnisuses. (1) The following
fares shall be charged per person in respect of motor omnibuses
for the distances mentioned: —

‘Between Plymouth and Davy Hill or St. John’s $ ¢.

(2) The fare chargeable in respect of consecutive places
mentioned above on the same route shall be 10 cents.

(3) Any person who fails to comply with the provisions
of sub-regulations (1) and (2) of this Regulation shall be guilty:

6. Revocation. The Vehicle and Road Traffic (Pas-
senger Fares) Regulations, 1952 (8. R. & O. 1952, No. 21)
are hereby revoked.

declare that the said Ordinance shall come into operation on the
18th day of July, 1963.

TRATOR IN CoUNCIL UNDER SECTION 103 (F) OF THE
Virgin Istanps Constitution AND Exzcrions Onrpt-
NANCE, 1954 (No. 7 oF 1954), AS AMENDED.



1. Crration. These Regulations may be cited as the
Legislative Council (Remuneration of Election Officers),
1963.

2. InrerrretTaTion. In these regulations—

‘“‘the Ordinance” means the Virgin Islands Constitution
and Elections Ordinance, 1954, as amended.

““(U.S.)”? means in the currency of the United States of
America.

3. Rares or Pay. The following amounts shall be
paid to election officers for their services in the performance of
