Abstract:
This report contains weather data for the Agricultural Research and Education Center at Dover, Florida for the year 1990 and the historical average for the years 1929 through 1990. The present weather station is located 7 miles west of Plant City. Until November of 1963, the weather station was located at Springhead, about three miles southeast of Plant City. All precipitation measurements were made at 8 a.m. each day and represent the previous 24 hour period. Temperature is taken daily at 8 a.m. in a standard weather instrument shelter approximately 4 feet above the ground and the recorded high and low and rainfall are for the previous 24 hours.

1990 CLIMATOLOGICAL REPORT AND HISTORICAL INFORMATION FROM 1929 1990

This report contains weather data for the Agricultural Research and
Education Center at Dover, Florida for the year 1990 and the historical
average for the years 1929 through 1990.

The present weather station is located 7 miles west of Plant City. Until
November of 1963, the weather station was located at Springhead, about
three miles southeast of Plant City. All precipitation measurements were
made at 8 a.m. each day and represent the previous 24 hour period.
Temperature is taken daily at 8 a.m. in a standard weather instrument
shelter approximately 4 feet above the ground and the recorded high and
low and rainfall are for the previous 24 hours.

Temperature:

The coldest temperature of 1989 occurred on December 24 with a low of
21 F. The night of December 23 24 was especially cold because of strong
winds. The warmest day was June 15 with a high of 97 F. Six freezing
days occurred in 1989, February 24, 25, and 26 and December 4, 24, and 25.
February 24, May 12, August 12, October 21, and December 4 and 24 had lows
which equalled or were lower than any other lows for that day. However,
all months except December had average temperatures which were above the
61 year average. June was the warmest month of the year with a mean
temperature of 81.9 F and December was the coldest at 55.2 F. Tables 1-12
give the daily high, low, and average temperatures, rainfall, and
historical temperature extremes. Table 14 presents the monthly
temperature extremes for 1929 through 1989. Table 16 presents the monthly
means for 1989.

Rainfall:

The wettest month for 1989 was August with 6.64 inches and the driest was
February with 0.24 inches. Total rainfall for 1989 was 41.61 inches, the
sixth driest in 61 years. Nine months were drier than normal and 3 months
were wetter, January, November, and December. The 61 year average is
53.32 inches. The driest year was 1977 with 37.84 inches and the wettest
year was 1959 with 83.36 inches. There were 4 rainfall events greater
than 2 inches, January 22, 2.45 inches, August 11, 2.15 inches, September
23, 2.09 inches, and December 9, 2.15 inches.

1990 CLIMATOLOGICAL REPORT AND HISTORICAL INFORMATION FROM 1929 1990

This report contains weather data for the Agricultural Research and
Education Center at Dover, Florida for the year 1990 and the historical
average for the years 1929 through 1990.

The present weather station is located 7 miles west of Plant City. Until
November of 1963, the weather station was located at Springhead, about
three miles southeast of Plant City. All precipitation measurements were
made at 8 a.m. each day and represent the previous 24 hour period.
Temperature is taken daily at 8 a.m. in a standard weather instrument
shelter approximately 4 feet above the ground and the recorded high and
low and rainfall are for the previous 24 hours.

Temperature:

The coldest temperature of 1989 occurred on December 24 with a low of
21 F. The night of December 23 24 was especially cold because of strong
winds. The warmest day was June 15 with a high of 97 F. Six freezing
days occurred in 1989, February 24, 25, and 26 and December 4, 24, and 25.
February 24, May 12, August 12, October 21, and December 4 and 24 had lows
which equalled or were lower than any other lows for that day. However,
all months except December had average temperatures which were above the
61 year average. June was the warmest month of the year with a mean
temperature of 81.9 F and December was the coldest at 55.2 F. Tables 1-12
give the daily high, low, and average temperatures, rainfall, and
historical temperature extremes. Table 14 presents the monthly
temperature extremes for 1929 through 1989. Table 16 presents the monthly
means for 1989.

Rainfall:

The wettest month for 1989 was August with 6.64 inches and the driest was
February with 0.24 inches. Total rainfall for 1989 was 41.61 inches, the
sixth driest in 61 years. Nine months were drier than normal and 3 months
were wetter, January, November, and December. The 61 year average is
53.32 inches. The driest year was 1977 with 37.84 inches and the wettest
year was 1959 with 83.36 inches. There were 4 rainfall events greater
than 2 inches, January 22, 2.45 inches, August 11, 2.15 inches, September
23, 2.09 inches, and December 9, 2.15 inches.
