METHODS FOR 1997 TRIALS AT WFREC, JAY
Studies were conducted on Red Bay, Dothan and Tifton fine sandy loam soils with 2% OM and
a pH of 5.8. Further details are listed with the individual trial protocols.
Herbicide efficacy was evaluated using a visual rating scale of 0 to 10 where 0 indicates no
weed control and 10 is equal complete weed control. Turfgrass quality was evaluated using a 0 to 9
scale where 0 is equal to dead turfgrass and 9 equals ideal turfgrass density and appearance. The
ratings were tabulated and means computed for each weed species having sufficient density and
distribution in the experimental area.
