Smith students in Sandi Wiggins' first grade class recently invited their fathers to a breakfast in honor of Father's Day. "Doughnuts with Dad" was held May 19. David Paramore's dad, SSG Joseph A. Paramore Jr., stationed in Schwein- fort, Germany, would not have been able to attend if it were not for technology and the school's ability to utilize it. KMS always strives to provide opportunities for learning, but more impor- tantly, opportunities to experience life. With the aid of computer software and a webcam, donated to the school by the Paramore family. Technology Special- ist, Martha Compton was able to take the class to Mr. Paramore in Germany. Paramore along with a host of other dads enjoyed mementos that were pre- pared by the students and a song in honor of their dads. The students and visi- tors enjoyed visiting with David's dad and soon re- alized that the classrooms are no longer bound by four walls. Martha Compton has a Father's Day card that each student made for their dad. David Paramore is tell- ing his dad all about the card as Chris Harrington looks on. Everyone is invited to be there and enjoy a day of fellowship. "Take your favorite covered dish to share," organizers urge those planning to attend. Students must be five years old by Sept. 1. Bring birth certificate, SSI card, and immunization. An updated physical is required. Roadcheck 2006 Roadcheck 2006 will take place June 6-8 on highways throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. The annual program, which began in 1988, is sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance. Colonel Graham W. Fountain, director of the Department of Transportation's Motor Carrier Compliance Office, said MCCO will par- ticipate in this year's international activity. Roadcheck 2006 will emphasize promoting both safe- ty and security on North American highways through the inspection of commercial vehicles and drivers. MCCO officers will be on the job night and day during the 72- hour period checking vehicles and their drivers at in- spection sites along major highways. In addition, roving patrols will inspect vehicles and drivers traveling other highways. For additional information about the MCCO event, contact Lt. Jeff Frost' or Sgt.
