mods:abstract lang en The United States manufacturing industry has a rich history of policy interventions intended to promote market competition. One reliable metric for competition is business entry. Traditional macroeconomic theory would suggest that government subsidization of industry creates what is commonly referred to as a “crowding-out†effect. This study utilizes multiple linear regression to examine causal links between macroeconomic environment and firm entries across the United States. The details of these relationships provide an accurate reference for related research and analysis.
